ZL1 black wheels

Anyone have any beyond good wheel cleaner that they use on the black zl1 stock wheels. There a pain in the ass to keep clean. I foam cannoned my car today and wheels and used Meguiars wheel cleaner and they still didn't come all the way clean. I gave up and moved the car into the garage and I'm going to try again tomorrow. Really aggravated

simple green is an awesome cleaner.
After seeing it eat the paint off A-4M wheels when left overnight, I'm not sure I'd use it on my wheels, brakes and steering parts in the wheel well. but that's just me.
Might try http://www.chemicalguys.com/default.asp . they have some awesome products. GL

I used soap and water and then sprayed them with Meguiars wheels hot cleaner and let it sit and then used a microfiber mitt and washed them off. After they dried off they still had dirt and a lot of brake dust and the wheels still won't clear black they had like some sort of film on the wheels.

The most important part is to make sure use use a sealant. I use Adams quick sealant every 3-4 washes on my wheels and never have to use more the soap and water to clean them as nothing really sticks to them (just coats them) and the dirt and dust comes off with little effort. Evey couple of months I'll use a wheel cleaner just to get any cracks that may be hiding dirt.

Treat the wheels properly and you'll rarely need more then soap and water.

Well me and my boss to detailing on the side and we used a wheel paint coating and protector (forgot the name) but it's like $65 a bottle and we put it on all 4 wheels in and out and the calipers and it worked decently but I think it would have been better if we applied it every few weeks. I also used turtle wax black tire coating the glue adhesive stuff that u only apply every couple months and wipe with a light tire shine and then reapply a coating of the turtle wax adhesive shine. I think i got it on the wheels around the edges so I may take
My wheels off and buff it off and recoat the wheels.

Why on earth would anyone leave any cleaner (especially Simple Green) on overnight? That's just asking for problems and that goes for any cleaner.

Simple Green is a great degreaser/cleaner and works well when you follow the directions.

Car wash soap & water, maybe a squirt of Simplegreen if needed and a wash mitt reaching inside the wheel getting the caliper and rotor at the same time. That's it and when drying we use microfiber towels reaching inside the wheel and out.

Forgot to mention that I rinse the simple green then wash with the car wash soap and apply turtle wax ice spray wax with a micro fiber towel. It's a lengthy process but worth the end result.

Sonax is the only wheel cleaner that actually works.
I get if from Detailer's Domain, they are on the forums.
Call Phil and ask him about it.
Find a video and watch it work.
Truly better living through chemistry.
