Talking GPI Heads and Cam Install

Decided to take the next step in my NA build! See what she do! Car has already been 10.67@126mph with Bolt Ons, Circle D 4C Converter, and GPI Ported Heads. Special thank you to my main man Ryan Stevens (Rhino79) of Gwatney Performance Innovation (GPI) for all his help with Parts and support! Also big S/O to Brett (Pray) for always being helpful with install tips and such!!

Install wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I do think Gen V LT1 is more challenging than LS3 cam installs were in 5th Gens for sure.

Added: GPI's new LT1 NA camshaft
ATI 10% Balancer
Johnson Lifters
BTR .660 Dual Valvesprings
GPI Hardened Pushrods
Flycutted the Pistons as well

Car drives pretty much like stock, but now pulls like a freight train on just Pump 93!! NPP Stealth Mode is perfect, you barely hear the hit. Below video is NPP Track mode.

How much did you have to fly cut?

I flycutted roughly .040. Used Cometic 4.100 .040 gaskets as well. Heads had already been milled .020.

I assume fly cutting pistons is done without pulling the slugs. How is that done, and is the material removed too little to effect the piston's balance?

To flycut I've always used the Lindy Flycutting tool. Same tool I've used on a cpl 5th Gens as well. 8MM Guide Rod thru valve of head and a cutter on the end. Use an electric drill to do it. Pretty simple, but I've done it about 6 times or so throughout the years.

Comparing to LS3 pistons, the material on these LT1 pistons seems more rough plus the stock dome. Took longer to just make a simple .040ish relief.
