I bet that even if the prices were the same we would still get a blocky HUD because of demographics. The fighter pilots can be assumed to have near perfect vision and Camaro can only be assumed to passed the (very lax) drivers exam. We might see some adjustably someday, but until then expect a HUD that your parents can see easily.

Keep in mind that there is a slight difference in functionality... the car HUD is to provide you "coarse" information on speed etc so blocky is fine. The aircraft HUD needs to provide substantially more information and is quite dynamic... hence the need for the greater resolution and detail. Blocky will be fine for the auto world...
