Poll: Should Chevrolet Offer Spoiler Delete Option on SS and RS cars?
Just noticed that quite a few folks are ordering the lower ground effects and wing spoiler for their cars. Problem is that unless you buy a non RS or SS car, your car will require expensive body work on the trunk lid because the Wing spoiler holes are different than the Duck or SS spoiler holes (which your car will come with).
Should Chevrolet offer an RPO called Spoiler Delete? This would not cost any money to customer or GM and the line worker would probably be happy that he has one less thing to install on a car. Wing spoiler guys would then be happy because it would save them a few hundred dollars in body work - something I would cringe about after buying a brand new car. This feature also offers high end Camaro buyers a different look if they want to be unique. Stripe packages would look different on spoiler-less cars.

It would cost GM money. If the holes are drilled then they have to keep both drilled and non-drilled trunk lids in stock.

Trunk lids hit factory undrilled. All LS and LT cars come with no spoilers (undrilled trunk lids) unless you get RS option.

If the lids are delivered to assembley undrilled, it should be an option.

If you order the high wing spoiler you get the high wing spoiler regardless if it is RS or not. Just My Opinion. Like Hylton said, they will have trunk lids undrilled.

The car will come from the factory with the SS spoiler and the dealer will have to fill the SS spoiler holes before making the new holes for the Wing spoiler?

That's where an RPO for spoiler delete would come in. Question is, do they have one. I don't think they have dealt with this problem yet.

I don't think they will send the car with the holes in the wrong place if you order the high wing spoiler. But this may be a decent solution for those that decide to add a different spoiler later. It won't be perfect but at least there wont be holes left after removing the spoiler. He mentions making the plugs for left over spoiler holes if there is a need.

Great idea. I really want the high wing spoiler and the rs and it seems like each day im changing my mind over which one to order cause you jusy cant do both unless you buy a new trunk lid

I'm always a fan of options. This would allow for some interesting customization with aftermarket spoilers and would represent a good stripping option.
