Airbag Light On After Stock Seat Swap

Last week I swapped out my stock 2010 black leather seats in favor of some adrenaline red seats out of a 2015 model. The airbag light is coming on. I removed the seats and checked the connectors and everything is plugged in. It looked to be a pretty standard swap. Both seats underneath look identical. I don't see anything that could be switched besides the heated seat module. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Have you looked at any of the wires? I had my airbag light on in my other car and the harness itself had been stripped from what looked like the back and forth motion of the seat from being adjusted. It must have snagged on something one time and set the light off. So I soldered it back together with some extra lead to give it more room

I was under the impression that this was not a simple plug and play swap for the 2010-2011 models. Something about having to add a resistor inline or a change to the harness to avoid this exact issue.

Search around, I know there are some threads about this. I know there was a change in the later models that made the swap to a 2010/early 2011 model a little bit more work. Almost certain it is a resistor fix.

Don't know if this might be the issue, but did you unplug the battery negative before disconnecting the sensors?

Matthew, check out post #24 in this thread. You will likely need to read the entire thread for proper context, as it is for a Recaro swap, but should still apply. Apparently this is only an issue on swaps into a 2010 model year. Hope it helps:

https://www.camaro5.com/forums/showt...=365033&page=2

"The way to get around the 2010 airbag issue is this:
On the passenger seat on the l/h rail is a sensor held on with one Philips screw. It has 2 light blue wires going to it.
You need to transfer that sensor. There's even a screw and locating hole provided in the same spot on the new seat base.
The '11 up cars do not have that sensor. They have a orange to blue circuit loop that goes to the seat belt sensor.
On the 2010 cars the blue wire splits and creates an additional circuit loop including the sensor.
You simply need to splice into the blue wire, incorporate the sensor and then put the pin in the corresponding point on the plug.
If you look at your original seat plug it'll be clear; there's one extra blue wire pin. That's the one coming from the sensor loop."

Matthew, follow the advice in the thread above, I had to do the same thing on my 2010. I also had to put my original 2010 seat belt connectors on to my leather 2012 seats. For some asinine reason, GM decided to change the belt latch somewhere between 2010 and beyond so the belt connector would not go into the latch. I swapped the seats then had to pull them back out and swap the seatbelt latch on each side too.

My guess is if the battery wasn't disconnected it triggered the light when plug got disconnected. Have it scanned and reset.

Problem is that the 2010 models used a sensor and seat belt setup that changed after this model year. Some people have success doing like greenhornet says and just transferring all your existing bracketry and sensors from the 2010 seats to the newer ones. Either way, that thread I posted has some good info. I'm sure there is more out there.
