30,000 miles, Trans and Diff fluids and oil changed

Car feels amazing! I really wish I changed out the diff and trans fluid way earlier.

Used to have issues getting into 1, and doing the 1-2 shift. Car shifts smooth as butter now.

Used to have a little whine when coasting, differential whine is gone now. Car feels like it rolls freely way easier too.

Everything was super easy to do, definitely something I'm going to stay on top of.

Great info. I'm an A6 and change my trans and diff every 10k miles (trans filter every 20k), oil every 5k, radiator and intercooler every 2 years (I run a 70% distilled water, 30% concentrated dexcool with water wetter). Makes a difference for sure.

I know some people recommend using the Royal Purple differential fluid which has the built-in friction modifier. But a few have chimed in saying that the amount the RP has stock is not enough.

Chevy themselves has changed the manual on how much of the AC Delco to pour in to almost double what was originally recommended.

I'm thinking of using the compatible Mobil 1 diff fluid with the recommended AC Delco FM to the new specs like you seem to have done.

What are your thoughts on this?

That was exactly what I've done. In my 2013 owner's manual it specifies 3.3 oz of the GM Additive, so I poured out .7 oz from the bottle, and then put the rest of the bottle into the diff and topped it off with the Mobil 1 75w-90 gear oil.

I know the RP has the additive in it already, but I don't know the proper ratios and such, so I played it safe with this method. I also really like Mobil 1 fluids to begin with, so it was a no-brainer for me.

Thanks for the input.

I'm a little confused as to what you mean by "poured out .7 oz from the bottle, and then put the rest of the bottle into the diff"

I thought you were supposed to put 7oz only in the differential? Where else would you put the limited slip / friction modifier into?

Sorry if I am a bit confused.

The additive comes in a 4oz. bottle. The manual says to put 3.3 oz into the diff and then fill it with 75w-90 gear oil.

So I poured out .7 oz so that I had 3.3 oz in the bottle and added that to the differential case first.

Then I took my quart of Mobil 1 gear oil, and added that to the diff until it started to come out of the fill hole.

Closed it all up, and all was good
