New z/28 owner here with rain tray questions
Hi all,
just picked my white 2015 up over the weekend and have a question. the rain tray was removed by previous owner and the dealer didn't know much about it. does anyone know the GM part# for the tray or have an aftermarket source? is there any type of drain tube attached to it or does the water just spill over when the channels are full? just want to have it for inclement weather. thanks all, looking forward to the wealth of knowledge here. |

I believe the rain tray is sold together with the vent and they are the same for SS, 1LE, and Z28. There is no drain tube, it just drains towards the front of the car away from the motor/intake.

First, here's the link: https://www.gmpartsonline.net/oem-pa...ctMGwtdjgtZ2Fz Part # 23213078 You will need the retainers too. Part # 11589295 (I think you need 6 or 8 of these). |

Yikes, $47 to ship a $57 part!? I know, compared to the price we paid for the car, but still. Any other vendors or site sponsors that would carry this?

Welcome. Nice to have another Z28 in the Bay Area. Found this, little cheaper for shipping. https://www.gmpartsdirect.co/oem-par...ector-23213078

That link was just so you could see a picture.
Take the part number back to the dealer and make them get it for you if you really want it lol. |

For what it's worth... I've driven mine as a (near) daily driver for 2+ years. Majority of the time w/out the tray. No issues at all. Also, it helps heat escape the engine bay.

Not a Z/28, but a '14 SS, Took mine off after I got mine, I daily drive/track it in the summer when dry, have been caught in the rain, no issues. GM's WeatherPak connectors are bulletproof. Tray is in the attic till I get rid of the car.

not to mention its pretty cool watching the heat from the engine escape and create its own weather system above the hood when its colder out.
