Ride settings help needed
Guys,
I didn't get all the manuals with my car and I'm having a bit of an issue figuring out the various ride settings. I think the default is "wet/ #1" correct? then if I hit the traction control button twice ( on the right) I can then switch between settings using one of the remaining 2 buttons, correct? Is there an audible chime or light that stays on once the setting is changed? Also can you deactivate all stability & traction and still be in one of the 5 settings? I think I was able to put it in the #3 setting with no lights on the dash and again with the stability and traction lights lit. Make sense? Is there a setting the car defaults to every time its turned off or does it "remember" the last setting? I also get a bit of a delay when pushing the buttons before anything gets displayed on the center screen, is that normal? I tried searching here but didn't see anything specific. sorry for the questions, let me know if there's a thread on this already. |

so I should see the setting in the little screen between the the speedo and tach, correct? will the system remember the setting or do I have to reset it every time I get into the vehicle?

The PTM is for performance driving, and the car will have to be told you are "ready" each time.

So then it defaults to normal ( full traction & stability) every time it's turned off then, correct?

Yes, the PTM will reset to its lowest sport mode or touring mode when the car is turned off. It will reset to the mode (Sport or Touring) that was set when the traction control was turned off.

I guess I'm not doing it correctly but for some reason I can set it in 3, 4 or 5 with both the traction & stability lights showing in the tach as on and off. Does that make sense? Shouldn't those lights remain "on" (meaning they are turned off or reduced) when in those particular drive modes? Or can you be in those modes and have all traction & stability turned off?

The two symbols (TC with slash and fishtail off) are illuminated in the tach in modes 3, 4, & 5, indicating that the driver aids are turned off. They are warning lights that you're on your own.

Right but I was able to put it in mode 3 with No lights illuminated on the tach. Does that make sense or is something wrong with my setup? It only shows the various mode in the display for a few seconds and then switches back to the digital speedo. Is that normal or should it be displayed there whenever it's in a particular mode?

The fishtail symbol is for StabiliTrak. According to the description of Perf Traction 3 on p. 9-43, the StabiliTrak will be on. So the fishtail off symbol should not be illuminated when Perf Traction 3 is selected. My mistake in my earlier post.

Sorry to beat a dead horse but what about the TC with slash? should that be on or off in modes 3,4,5?

The Stabilitrak off button on the console is used to enter PTM.
Pressing the button once turns off Traction Control only. Only the TC slash symbol is illuminated in the tach. Pressing the button twice in quick succession enters PTM in mode 2, turning off Traction Control and Stabilitrak. Both the TC slash and fishtail (Stabilitrak) off symbols illuminate in the tach, and PTM 2 is displayed in the Driver Information Center (display between speedo and tach). Pressing the Sport (+) button moves up to next highest mode, up to 5 Dry, Race. Pressing the Tour (-) button moves down to next lower mode, down to 1 Wet, Tour. Whenever PTM is active, both the TC slash and fishtail (Stabilitrak) off symbols illuminate in the tach. Pressing the Stabilitrak Off button exits PTM. Turning off the ignition will also exit PTM. The confusion here is that in the description of PTM modes 1, 2 and 3, it says that Stablilitrak is on. However, the Stabilitrak Off symbol continues to be displayed in the tach in all PTM modes. I can't explain that logic. |

Nice description of PTM features can be found here:
https://www.roadandtrack.com/motorsp...ction-control/ descriptions and a chart, as well, of how stability control work with the the PTM modes engaged Also, here's a good video of it too: https://youtu.be/5FMVYONF3y8?t=67
