I love the ZL1 and would pick one all day long over a GT500 but the fact remains that the ZL1 is slower in a drag race. The baseline runs that LPE has done with their cars prove that. How do you know the '13 GT500 isn't faster than a ZL1? Does your ZL1 have a flux capacitor that allows you to time travel so you can see a drag race that hasn't happened yet? All of this is not a knock on the ZL1, it's just the truth. It doesn't mean that it's not a fantastic car. You guys need to stop getting so butt-hurt anytime someone posts something about a GT500 being faster. |

I don't think half of the people posting in here even give a logical thought to power/weight ratio ,like its a magical 4,200+ lbs. car that creates some void to travel through time.I'm mean WTH it took LPE like 700+ WHP to run a high 10,its f^c(ing heavy get over it.

This prob comes down more to driver skill(or lack there of) than the ZL1's performance.

Before I purchased my ZL1, if someone would have asked me if I would rather have 650HP or the Best suspension currently available and 580HP, I might have really considered the 650HP... assuming both options were Camaro's. Having spent the weekend driving my ZL1, I will say this, every time I get out of my car, I shake my head in amazement of the suspension. Every person that I have given a ride to so far has commented on the solid ride and suspension, it's unbelievable! With that said, for about $600.00 worth of parts, I will have my 650HP. Better yet, I will not be driving a Mustang.

The design and engineering put into the ZL was to give the buyer an OVERALL perfromance based car... not just a strip or road course car... but both, so with that in mind, its not going to be a one sided blow out by one or the other. I honestly think Ford threw the Boss LS to the ZL so they can evaulate and make some changes to the 13 GT500... I mean c'mon, Its almost May and no more info has been posted about the Shelby since Nov when Chevy called em out in front of everyone...

It should be a close race for the 11/12 GT500 stock for stock
550hp/510tq 38xx lbs vs 580hp/550tq 40xx lbs If both can get some traction it should be very close in the 1/4 mile .. no suprise there. Where the GT500 will get outclassed is in the twisties where the road isn't even and has bumps .. the ZL1 suspension will soak it up and shine .. Crowley

In 1993 I had a Z-28 with the LT1 motor...fun car...pretty fast stock. Ate Mustangs all day long on the track...even many modified ones. I went to an autocross track one day to try it out. I was very inexperienced for autocross...and would say I still am. There was a guy with an S-10 on good tires, but otherwise stock...getting around that course faster than I could get my Z-28 around the track. He was just very experienced...I found out he was the club president that was putting on the autocross day. Driver experience easily handed me my a$$ that day.

Maybe Dust was a factor in the ZL1's lane? I'm sure with time and a experience the ZL1 will beat the old Condor..... It makes me wonder if in fact a ringer was used in the shoot out with the Boss Mustang, My god those times were fantastic! Hang in there guys, Have Faith there will be better times I'm sure |
