Okay, super helpful. I'll place an order now and see if that helps. I'm thinking for pads to go with Hawk Performance HPS 5.0 pads ... but honestly since I just drive to track events I'd be okay with a more aggressive (though dusty and squeaky) pad if there's a better recommendation.

Also, I ordered custom plates that say "AG1LE SS" ... I thought I was being really clever ... I see you beat me to the punch

I use the hawk hps for the street and leave on for autox. I never get the brakes hot enough to cause any issues during autox. I have DTCs (70s/60s) for the very occasional track day event.

LOL! It's a popular take on 1LE plates all over the country.

My AG1LE plate translates to: Silver 1LE

Also, my state of Nevada is known as the Silver State, so kind of cool for here.

New shoes are in... thought I would put them on a scale for be all end all full weight measurement.

Front: 51.5 lbs
Rear: 55 lbs

**EDIT** I haven't measured my OEMs but have read w/ tire fronts are about 60lbs and rears are about 64lbs. So let's call it a 10lbs reduction which is very noticeable when I go to grab second gear and lay down a strip of rubber for 50 feet lol.

Detroit Speed rear stabilizer has arrived. 12.5 lbs according to my scale. There's an autocross event tomorrow so I'm going to see if I can get there early and switch the bars out in the paddock.

congrats on the purchase. if you haven't already, buy some Sonax Alcantara cleaner to revive that steering wheel.

Where did you get your APEX wheels? I have been looking to get a pair of 17" APEX rears to put drag radials on.

Funny you should mention that, I was noticing how ... "gummy" the steering wheel feels. Almost like the suede feeling has rubbed off. Can that be restored?

I just ordered them direct from APEX but the pricing was good with the Michelins they were offering. If you just need the wheels there might be a cheaper option.

yes, you'll do several applications of the Sonax. here's a video by Lethal Camaro to give you an idea on how to properly apply & clean. i'd recommend doing the cleaning when you won't be driving the car so the wheel can fully dry overnight. pending on how matted-down the alcantara is, you may need to contact a professional detailer who knows how to sand the material (yes that is a thing) to remove the bunched up fibers. alternatively you could also buy a brand-new OEM wheel from RockAuto so you could start fresh and maybe sell your wheel in the 2nd-hand market. disregard the description that shows "leather", this is in-fact the OEM 1LE alcantara wheel.

Apex doesn't sell 17's for the Camaro. You might look at Weld, Forgestar, Racestar, etc. for drag wheel setups.

Incredible. My wheel looks exactly like his "before" comparison. I've been thinking about getting driving gloves but will that trash the wheel faster or protect it from my grubby mitts?

Also, I like the Strats photo! I'm from Cicero, IL and whenever I'm back in town I hit that joint up.

the gloves will actually protect the alcantara, so i'd say give 'em a go! i have a pair of Mechanix Wear M-Pact gloves that i wear on longer drives with my buddies, strangely enough they actually help grip the wheel even better.

and small world! People are still meeting up at Strats on the weekends but sounds like the city of Villa Park is giving Strat grief for all the dumb people who rip down north ave, so who knows how much longer that will be working out.

good luck with the car & refreshing the wheel
