Question 38mm to 32mm Offset

The inquiry is for an older acquaintance without internet access...

The Camaro has factory 18x7.5 wheels with 38mm offset & 245/55R18 tires that need replacement. He saw aftermarket 18x8.5 wheels with 32mm offset that he likes at a tire store. The bolt patterns are both 5x120.

His concerns are whether the 6mm difference in offset is too much? Will there be any change in how the car handles?
