Injen CAI Question

So I've been looking at CAIs and from all I've read the Injen is obviously the best (or at least proven to be), but now the BBK has come up. Anyhow - that's a different story.

I asked my friend about his thoughts on the subject since he has a bit more experience than me (alright, a lot more)

Anyhow, as we know the Injen doesn't sit up top, but drops down near the wheel well. The argument that my friend brought up is that since it's a "True cold air intake" and sits at the bottom, there's a possibility of water getting into it. My car is a daily driver and I DO drive it in the rain (if I have to at least, but point is I don't have a second vehicle)

I've only seen one picture of the Injen from the wheel well and it looks like it's covered and out of harms way when it comes to water but if anyone who has it installed could fill me in that would be great - or show installed pictures from the wheel.

I don't want to have water get into my intake and thrash my engine >.<

Thanks!

You probably didn't read my post . I'm not asking about which Intake is best or any specifics on it. I'm asking about personal experience with the Injen CAI and if it is in any danger of taking in water. I noticed you have it in installed, I'm assuming you're happy with it or you wouldn't be advertising it; but when everything is put back in place is it concealed from water? Thanks

autpanything is offering free shipping and a free hydroshield with purchase...around $321. The hydroshield can help with moisture protection. No one here has had issues with water in the intake as has been discussed in several threads.

No danger if you have the hydro shield.

You do that search, you will find plenty of threads with the pictures of the install. And were its situated from every angle possible.

Yes I am happy with it. And its concealed.

Seems to me it would pick up a lot of heat from the road. That is unless you live up north.

It picks up neither heat, nor water. Plus, the road is not nearly as hot as the engine bay. Not within 100 degrees, probably. It works well. Really well.

The hydo shield is water resistant not water proof. Its not perfect but its better than nothing.

Ah wow, I must have skimmed over hyrdoshield. Anytime I've seen shield I just think heat shield. Hadn't even clicked with that.

Ya I saw the one on AutoAnything, that will probably be where I order it from if I chose so.

Thanks for your input!

Hopefully your washer resevoir has the right size hole to hold the grommet and you also get the right intake tube. I received the V8 intake tube in my V6 kit, also the hole in the washer bottle was too big. I had to put my stock intake back on while I wait for a call back from Injen
I called Autoanything and thet told me to call Injen where I had to leave a message.

Unless your planning on riding in the floods simular to what Katrina did to New Orleans, then you will be fine. It really ain't that low to the ground anyway. I have driven mine in very bad rain storms, with water ponding up on the roads and NOT A PROBLEM ONE. Other CAI manufactors want you to believe that this is unsafe, only cause they hope you wont buy the Injen. But so far it has proven itself to be the only true cold air intake and has produced the highest gains. I love mine and I would definitely without a doubt buy it all over again. Nothing but the best for my ride.
