Rolling along...

Can you hear me now?
Legislation to mandate minimum vehicle sound levels coming
Um, yeah. Good thing my new Camaro won't be affected by this. If the factory exhaust isn't loud enough, there will always be the aftermarket to keep me out of trouble with the law. Now about that idea of adding electric exhaust cut-outs that can be had from the factory.... |

This is stupid. Everyone can see a car long before they hear it. If you get hit by a car because you didn't look, that is your fault. The exceptions are the blind. However, generally speaking it will take someone longer to cross a street than it will take a car to go from being beyond hearing distance to you. And that goes for most cars. Plus, every car has a horn. If audible warning is required, the driver can honk.

One of the considerations for the law is the blind. They can't see the car coming.
I like this idea. Maybe they'll raise the decibel limit so we can run louder. Regardless, you'll hear me roaring when I get mine. My exhaust will not remain stock.

I'm pretty sure the limit is 90 db. I only remember this because I bought a Magnaflow exhaust that had paperwork stating it is under 90 db. Obviously, I could be totally wrong about remembering this number. I've been trying to find evidence of this online to no avail.
