h/c/i update (BTR Stage 3)
Hello! About half a week ago i posted about my 10’ SS getting h/c/i done at Champion Motors. Initially i was upset about running relatively low on the dynoJet (460whp, 440tq) but, after talking to Rob & the tuner a lot of my worries were settled.
The car was dynod on a super hot & humid day so that probably explains why it ran low. But MAN. After driving this thing for like 2 solid days now IT IS A BLAST. Chopping like ****ing crazy at redlights, breaking necks around my city, this is the reason why i bought a camaro! Drivability is honestly not that different from stock and is super minor compared to what i read about.. Seriously, if you bought a V8 for it to be practical and easy to drive get a civic. Little more gas to get her going and i find i’m pushing in the clutch a little more while i’m in parking lots. The bucking is annoying but it’s part of owning something like this. On cooler nights this thing feels MUCH faster than 460whp if i am being honest. Pulls like a freight train. Dangerously fast. Tuner was mentioning “you have zero down low tq and it’s all top end” but even at 3-4k RPMs it pulls great. I don’t do digs all i do is highway rolls so this is exactly what i wanted. The induction noises from this BBK 102MM TB & LSXR Intake mani sounds like a ZL1. Absolutely crazy. Car is running absolutely A1 regardless of it having 188k KMs on it. The ONLY negative thing / downside i have to say about the car is the smell of no cats in traffic gives me minor headaches here and there but i’ll get used to it. Not my daily but today i unfortunately caught a lot of traffic. You don’t see many cars like this here in Toronto so people really are surprised. Fuel Economy ISNT THAT BAD EITHER. I was honestly impressed. All in all, i’m extremely impressed with the car, champion motors did a great job. They don’t have the fastest turn around time during these summer months here, they DEFINITELY are NOT the cheapest but, they do things correctly and well. |

glad youre "feeling" it rather than looking at the numbers! You want more "low down torque" change the rear end gears to 3.91. and as far as the bucking, yep, I stay in second gear ALOT around town because 3rd will buck. I spoke with some of the other peooples on here, and had to get used to the idea of 3000 RPM is where the fun starts and goes alllll the way to 6000/7000. That 6000 number was hard to wrap my head around coming from the old school where you were shifting at 4500 or so...but thats how these cars are designed, to be operated at those higher RPMs.
Glad you took a few days and now are happy! Enjoy it!! |

Yeah I'm glad your happy with it too and am enjoying the car. You can get rid of some of that bucking with VVE tuning if they only tuned the engine to run maf.

Yea i don’t think i’ll go as far to change out the rear end. Just need a MGW short throw and that’ll be all for “performance” for this build! Now it’s just external : cosmetic stuff… |

GM 3.91 ring gear and pinion will make a huge difference and it won't bankrupt you. MSgt O is ever so correct
