Maybe they are testing some equipment for the Z/28 or 7th Gen. This mule could be anything since it's obviously not a regular ZL1 1LE

The 19 should have the new rear view mirror with monitor correct?

Or since this car has Manufacturer plates maybe they are experimenting with the full on camera for the 2020 models.

Mike looks like a test mule, and looks like there going to update the ZL11LE with the new driving rear camera and mirror, it may happen for this late model year or next.

Now, if that is the actual reason, I am not sure, but that is what I read. I tried to find the article link, but couldn't.
Don't Think it has anything to do with weight of the new camera, Its more about the new parts that have to be made and tested, think of all the new parts, new wing or some part of the wing, new trunk lid for the wires to pass thru, then from there getting the wires to the mirror, that's a lot of work and testing, the better way is a new Antenna, that way only 1 new part is needed, less wire to run too.

That's why there testing this new camera, better late then never.

I didn't know that.

So no front parking sensors, and no Homelink.....what else am I not getting?! (other than the car delivered )
There are two reasons for this to happen, first thing is there is only so much bandwidth in the GM Lanbus , that keeps down all the things that can work at the same time.

#2. Supply chain, in order to make the harness to fit all the options you want or think you need, GM will need to upgrade all there connectors on the harness. Each connector on the car can house only so many circuits and GM is not going to source a new connector for a small run car as the cost to redesign a connector is astronomical. GM usually builds their connectors with room to grow, unfortunately this connector is already full. Example for you. The new body 2019 truck uses the same mirror connector as a 2015. In 2015 all the cavities were used and now in 2019 they only use 6 so they can grow down the road.

Definitely a test mule and probably used for multiple things but my bet for one of those is testing the camera so they can get it out of the spoiler. I like that location.

Only the regular SS and ZL1... not the 1LE

That's what I'm thinking.

Sounds like something you could get going on for the 2019's

I'm well aware of the ZL1 1LE wing. My post was simply a poor attempt at a joke based around mlee's humorous typo.

Backup camera appears to be in the same place...
Possibly the PDR records front and rear view of the car?

That's pretty much what this seems to boil down to.

Hope to retrofit mine someday.
