Backup Light Wiring

Thinking about adding a backup camera. I need access to the wires for the backup lights in the bumper. Anyone know how to get to them?

Thanks

I really was wondering about this myself. I got one of the Advance Auto cameras, and it should do until a smartmirror comes out. I've read that you may have to remove the bumper, but also heard the opposite. Gonna try tomorrow and see what happens. I'll let you know if I have any luck.

To get to it near the backup lights, you have to remove the rear fascia...

Lt. Green wire left rear light assembly, and you can ground through the rear lights, black wire. Easy if you remember LEFT SIDE rear light.

So calamon it looks like you didn't need to remove the rear facia, just the inner trunk cover over the left tail light. Plan on doing this in the next week or two.

This thread is ten years old, but to answer your question it’s the light green wire on the drivers side. You can see the tiny hole where I double checked it.
