Good luck...make sure to tape a piece of paper on your steering wheel that states DO NOT START - NO OIL IN ENGINE. You can also pull the starter fuse(can't remember which one it is...check the manual). You don't want someone at the tow company or the dealer doing something stupid.

Good luck!

unfortunately friends i also had this problem few days ago. I had my ips twin turbo installed by a good installer and tuner in south jersey. I live about 100 miles away. As I was driving I saw the oil pressure seem kind of low at idle but i though ehh, maybe its just a glitch. No glitch. I shut the car off in my drive way. 5 mins later I restart and whaalaa no oil pressure !!! I was furious. Never heard of this issue. I had to have the car towed 100 miles back to the tuner to get this fixed. The good part is i heard valve train noise for only a few secs. I wasnt driving or roughing the car up at all when it happened. So now I will do a cam swap and an oil pump upgrade. So more power more problems....shit never ends !

oh the fact that gm hasnt literally mailed, emailed, called, or expressed concern for this little issue which can actually kill a person, or their engine, is disgusting. Other then that the car is great. 2 fingers for GM not doing squat about this.

Hi all.
I had the same problem back in June. GM replaced the sensor.
I was at a track day last week. After 2 trips, i looked down and saw my pressure was almost at the red mark. I shut down the car, waited 10 minutes and started again. This time the needle was at zero. I started to panic. Checked the oil, was still full. Waited another 15 minutes and started again. This time my pressure was at about 1/4. Drove it back to our parking spaces. After this, all returned back to normal.
Mechanic says that there is a "screen" for the oil sensor. if anything gets caught in this, it effects the reading. This is their best guess about the problem. All is running well and strong.
I am glad i didn't need to tow my car again.

Dealership told me that it would be a day job to replace the oil pump.
They also mentioned to me joking, that maybe i should "do the cam" while it was all apart.

There is a tread about changing the oil pump, but i can't find it. Sorry

Thanx... i talked to a mechanic and he told me its about 8-10 hours to change the oil pump

So this failure happened to you twice ? First time you got an new sensor and now the problem is gone without changing the sensor again ?
