I would not use those, they're even more restrictive than the ones on the car now. If you want a set that'll do something you need manual SS mufflers.

True but ive cut open and seen inside all three. the l99 mifflers are designed to drown out the sound of the cylinder deactivation. By adding them your adding a muffler quieter, heavier, and even more restrictive than the stock ones on your V6. You can go ahead and add them if thats want you want but your going in the wrong direction. Theres a reason no one else whos looking for better sound and performance(what little it gives withthe stock look) adds L99 mufflers to there cars.

I bought some "LS3" mufflers off craigslist and now I'm starting to think they're L99 mufflers. Does anyone have a definitive way to know which is which? Part numbers would be nice...

Ok, after doing research, I've found that the easiest way to tell the difference between L99 and LS3 are the number of spot welds on the top of the mufflers. An LS3 muffler only has 3 spot welds on top and the L99 has 6 spot welds on top. Basically, indicating the number of internal walls inside. The L99 have parallel walls that have the stuffing and pipe baffles inside of them (for drone), where as the LS3 only has the single wall that splits the muffler in twain! lol Also, the V6 mufflers (tho they do have 6 spot welds) are still completely different.

Which picture is the L99 and Which is the V6? Is the bottom one the V6?

I just replaced my MRT V2 mufflers with a pair of L99 mufflers. Sounds much better. Still loud on aceleration and no drone at cruising speed. Best of both worlds.
