MGW Shifter

Who has one? Whats your opinion? Pros or cons? I have a Hurst now and have had my eye on switching to the MGW.

Thanks

Ran one on my SC SS. When I switch my shifter in my Z it will be to a MGW.

Was it a smooth shift? I like my Hurst, it has a tight pattern but the movement is real stiff. I like how the MGW is the whole base and linkage. Looks like a real quality shifter.

Ordered mine a couple weeks ago, and they are on back order if that says anything to their popularity. Called them yesterday and was told it would ship out today. Will get mine installed in a couple weeks, if you havent made a decision yet I will let you know.

I would like to hear some feedback compared to the ZL1 shifter which I do like. I read on the Vette forum that some couldn't speed shift as quick as the stock shifter which doesn't make sense.

I installed a MGW Shifter after missing a no-lift shift on the stock shifter at the track on a stage one package that put down 570 rwhp/570 rwtq. For me, the stock shifter did not engage quick enough as the power level increased.

I rarely have missed a shift on the street or track with the MGW shifter at the current power levels (670 rwhp/630 rwtq), but I do not No-Lift shift anymore. To0 risky on the street on with Factory rubber and too costly at the track at this level.

Pros; Shorter throw and solid direct engagement. The shifter is a work of art. I wish the billet housing and platform could be exposed somehow.

Only Con. The spring is tighter and you will need more effort on gear engagement. You will get you used to it and probably like it more after a week or so. I know I did.

Hope that helps

i have the mgw. i had the hurst. if feels very solid, well built and smooth but you kinda do need a bit more effort in the shifts. its alright. dunno if its worth the time and money tho.
