Yeah you probably would've been better off with a custom cam from katech or another vendor.

I agree 100% and I did the hotcam in my 2016 and got the exact same number 440 RWHP on the first dyno. Take a look at page one of this thread, 440 - 8th post down. I called my 2016 the cars and coffee car. Sounded bad ass, scared away most cars at idle.

This time I went with the TSP EL-7 cam.

Tim, if you have the cash talk to your builder and change the cam now for a different one. If not just enjoy that sweet sound.

Yes, keeping the cam. Pushing them to get the headers. I have dumped enough into this, I will get a C7 or a Porsche if this does not work. It was my choice, they thought it would work too.. it was worth a shot. Who knows, my style of driving on a road course is always bouncing off red line . I really need to.drive it to see how it runs, numbers are only part of the story...

thanks for sharing. i think this is a testament to the stock cam & vvt. that tq hit down low is brutal.

on another note - the LT2 manifold seems to have no issue with making power over 7k.

we're you seeing valve bounce toward the end of the run?

Mike from Katech would have to comment, I have not picked the car up, we are waiting on long tube headers, this is stock exhaust... My guess simply shut down. Also manifold, as we reviewed options and MSD was one discussed to close gap and for dollar spent at this point, not worth it for 5 HP per their testing. The LT 2 is a good buy...

VVT is a very good technology.

Who did you go with for headers? I just ordered ARH's for my 2003 Z06 and it's nearly a two month lead time.

Had to switch to Kooks, ARH could not deliver in time. Picking up the car Thursday and will share final numbers.

Final numbers

Headers make the motor...good pick up across the whole band... 475hp...

Big improvement, thanks to Mike and the Katech team for hanging with this to make it work. Not the best cam in hind sight (my pick) , but a very high quality job & parts which will last for years.... And should sound pretty good too!

let's see if she beats her previous best of 2:10 at Daytona labor day weekend,

Tim

Nice gains and I bet it sounds much better. Strange on the headers. KOOKs had a two month lead time to get headers for the Z06 and ARH said about a month. Guess I'll find out if they make it in a month soon enough.

What event are you doing in Daytona? I missed the SCCA one earlier, didn't sign up soon enough.

So you made 418whp baseline with LT2 manifold, then 478whp with GM hotcam/heads/ kooks headers?

Yep...+ Katech porting and head work... Did not use the hot cam heads as a package, I had Katech do it and they did significant upgrades to the whole valve train, as I told them I wanted it to last for ever....
