Cam choice?

As of now i have cai, ported tb, long tubes no cats, x pipe and axle back. 2010 ls3. I was looking at gpi ss2 and ss3 cam kits but not sure which to go with. I only drive the car when its nice out and mostly just beat on it. Im not looking for dyno numbers, i want the real world power!!!

If you really want real world comparisons, smaller cam vs larger cam, side by side race, go to youtube, and you should find SS1 vs SS2 or perhaps SS2 vs SS3, or SS1 vs SS3, I forget lol.

You will see how a smaller cam pulls away first at road legal speeds, but the larger cam pulls away once you hit freeway speeds and higher.

Hope that helps a bit.

I just asked a similar question, emailed gpi. They talked me into the ss3 over the 2. Talked to PSJ on here too and it sounds like it's fine for daily driving. Gotta get a pretty expensive torque converter to run it tho

Picking up a used set of heads that i will do a little home porting on, and yes i have done several port jobs. It might not be as good as the pros, but it is free hp!!!. Then i will put my stockers on an lq4 build im doing.

I did the tsp vvt 2 as my first cam and always wanted more power. Ended up adding the ss4 last summer since gpi didn't have a line out back then. Go bigger cause you'll def want more power

My main question between cams was more depending on that have the 6 speed. Since launching these cars is such a pain in the ass. It would be nice to be able to put 15's and slicks on, but im not going to spend that kind of money for that.
