Changing my brakes

So I just ordered new brake pads and rotors. As I probably won't be replacing them myself, I want to be able to go to a shop and have all the supplies I need so I won't get charged a ridiculous amount for a small part. I'm probably going to replace the brake pad hardware, replacing fluid with fresh fluid, and maybe the brake lines. Anything else I should look for?

I strongly doubt that unless you have reason to suspect actual damage there's any need to replace the lines yet.

But you should insist that when the caliper pistons are pushed back in their bores that the dirty fluid in the calipers NOT be pushed back up into the ABS unit. Instead, have them push the dirty fluid out the bleed fitting into a bottle as they compress the pistons back.

You may want to order new pins for the calipers too. I did as you and ordered pads and rotors. I attempted to do the work myself but I could not knock those pins out of the calipers nor could my brother. I ended up dropping it all off at the garage and telling them to do it.

Should also get an actual quote before taking all your parts in. They like / need to make a markup on parts, so if you take your own in, the labor will more than likely be higher.

Got quoted by Skye Performance, a shop that I think is the most reputable, for $320 at a rate of $80. I still have time to check other shops around my area since my kit doesn't come in til Tuesday and I probably wouldn't drop my car off til Friday.

Every time I replace brakes, I always replace the hardware with them. Obviously do a brake fluid flush at the same time.
