0-60 and 1/4 mile times (fastest production cars)

I thought you'd want to see how the new Camaro is going to stack up against the rest of the automotive world.
Linky:http://www.albeedigital.com/supercou...0-60times.html

Here's a teaser:

2007 Ford Mustang Shelby GT 5.0 13.6 (MT Online)
2007 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 Convertible 4.5 12.9 (R&T Jan '06)
2007 Ford Mustang Shelby GT-H 5.3 13.9 (C&D Nov '06)
2008 Dodge Viper SRT-10 3.7 11.7 (MT Oct '07 Vol. 59, NO. 10)
2008 Dodge Challenger SRT8 4.7 13.0 (R&T July '08)

I know this is paper racing, but it'll give us an idea of where the new SS stands. Looking at the numbers, I think it stands proud.

I don't think it will do much against a Viper, that's for the Corvette to fight. But it should beat the rest, though I would like to see the numbers for a GT500 coupe (should be better than the convertable).

2008 Bullitt-13.29/105.27MPH...Sept '08 Muscle Mustangs and Fast Fords.
I think the SS will do the quarter in 13 flat.

You really shouldn't go by MMFF times. They always run faster times than the rest of the Magazines.
Its just like taking GM High Performance times for GM cars. Evan Smith ran something like 12.8s in a bone stock 98 Z28. But I wouldn't use that time as a standard.

Bullits are mid 13 sec cars if you look at the average times from numerous magazine tests. I've never been impressed with them. They usually run very similar times as stock Mustang GT's.

The new Camaro SS should run 13.0s - 13.3s @ 108 mph (on average) from numerous Magazine sources (Road and Track, Car and Driver, Motortrend).

And high 12s from sources such as GM high tech and Chevy High Performance. Heck, with Evan Smith behind the wheel at ATCO on a 30 degree day, the new SS could run mid 12s.

The July 2008 Motor Trend tested an '08 GT500 coupe at 4.3 seconds to 60 mph and 12.6 seconds at 114.2 mph in the quarter mile. (Also tested an '08 Challenger SRT8 at 4.7 to 60 and 13.1 at 108.3 in the quarter.) The infamous Evan Smith previously tested a stock GT500 coupe for the August 2006 MM&FF and ran 12.257 at 117.18 mph despite a 2.11 second 60-foot time. He backed it up with a 12.37 at 116.52 mph. Better drag tires for a faster 60-foot time would put a GT500 into the 11s with Evan Smith at the wheel.

and my guess as to why those mags get better times then motortrend and R & T. . .they know the cars they are testing better. and personally taking a 98 z28 camaro with ls6 and headers to 12.5004 at 111 on fusion Z street tires and stock rims. . .I can see a mid 12 second 5th gen easy. but hey this is bench racing. be mid next year before we know for sure what the avg joe will pull.

Probably with Evan Smith behind the wheel. You KNOW that's about as good a time as you can get with a car when he drives it

I don't think it's a problem using times he's driven as long as all times quoted are for cars that he's driven. They prep' the track, powershift, and do everything possible to run the best time. He isn't the only good hot-shoe as far as running in a straight line either, but I would beg on his behalf not to discount his times. There are very few I think that could drive as good as him and a couple views into some sigs' you see here will show you there are others who drive very well.
