One of the primary things I didn't care for when I test drove a 2014 LS3 1LE was the clutch feel. Firm for the first half of travel and then the bottom half almost falls to the floor. Anyway, if GM was to relocate something it should have been the DIC menu button on the L99 automatics. Try and hit that thing on the go without bumping the downshift paddle.

I just installed my LINGENFELTER return spring this past sunday.

I only experienced cluth return-failure issues twice since delivery of the car ('bout 4 years ago). Had driven it very aggresively but no further issues in the last two years.

Yet having extremely low mileage (I just got to 8,500 mi two weeks ago) I decided to install it just to be on the safe side.

Just noticed a slightly increased effort on initial push and a bit firmer return on the last inch and a half of travel up.

I do not know a reason to take the OEM spring out.

Safe driving,

One thing I noticed while swapping in a manual trans from an automatic is that when I installed the clutch pedal that the factory spring flips near the bottom of the travel, and actually holds down the pedal. ive been thinking about swapping it out to the lingenfelter spring, but haven't yet. I can feel the factory spring in the pedal when I depress the clutch.

as far as removing the spring causing the throwout bearing to go bad, anyone who has had the transmission out of their car knows that there is a big spring under the green cover putting pressure behind the throwout bearing, which keeps the bearing in contact with the clutch fingers at all times.

I had issues with the clutch pedal not returning a couple times, but was caused by poor bleeding and the factory's crappy master cylinder.
I've installed a master from ideal garage and have had no more clutch issues.

It doesn't matter if the spring is there or not, whatever floats your boat. The weight of the clutch pedal won't ruin your throwout bearing.

The spring is there to insure the clutch safety switch remains reliable.

Has anyone else had any more success with removal of the clutch spring? Recently picked up a 2010 SS and after driving the car for awhile just hate how the clutch lets out.

I took it out, it makes the travel feel more linear and smooth.

It's pretty easy to spot, just look on the pedal arm just above the foot pad and you'll see it.

This is with the hyd. disconnected. As you can see its like a pendulum spring. Loaded in the wrong direction coming off the floor.

I removed mine a few weeks ago and the clutch engagement is more consistent. Definitely recommend this, and if you're worried get the Lingenfelter return spring. I'm also running that and I like it. It's annoying in really bad bumper to bumper traffic but that is it.

See posts 6&7 on this Vette forum about the dual role the assist springs plays and GM bulletin on not removing it and denial of warranty if removed. Assuming it's also applicable to the Camaro spring ?
http://www.z06vette.com/forums/f62/a...spring-115662/

Here's an excerpt

One purpose of the over center spring is to return the clutch pedal to the very top of the stroke to expose the compensation port. The clutch master cylinder has a compensation port that is positioned within 1 MM of the top of the stroke. The compensation port allows internal pressure in the clutch hydraulic system to be exhausted into the master cylinder and also provides for system refill as the clutch disc wears. Removing or disconnecting the spring may allow the clutch pedal to hang at rest position with the piston short of the compensation port. If the internal pressure is not exhausted the CSC may get stroked too far and a clutch hydraulic system failure may result.

The second purpose of the spring is to provide for the designed clutch pedal feel
(ie. make it easier to hold down in stop/go traffic)
