Stock GY are crap.

Is GM expecting customers to be spending more than one thousand dollars in tires every 15 miles?

After 6 miles I changed wheels for MMR replicas and got 305 Pirelli PZeros for the back and reused the stock 275 rears on front.

I took my car to install lowering shocks and they noticed the inside of the tire was gone. It is obviously bad alignment, but even so, I was in the understanding tires should be good for at least 30k miles.

Tires on a car like this will never last 30k miles.

How long a tire lasts depends on the rubber compound used. High performance summer tires are super grippy at the cost of life of the tire. The OEM tires will last any where from 15K-20K miles all depending how you drive the car. Even less if the car sees more track than street use.

Gf has the first set of GY tires on our 16 SS and there's still plenty of tread left. That's even after I ran it at Road America and a 20m session at Autobahn CC.

You'll not get 30k from these tires. Just won't happen.

You also can't blame the tire for alignment issues.

The alignment did more damage than you think. No tire is made to go sideways.

My stock front tires only last 4000 miles 2 trackdays and 1 autocross and they were shot. After the autocross I looked at the front tires and there were chunks missing and the outside edge was shot. They looked like garbage. My Bridgestones are supposibly fast wearing tires, they handle 1000% better and after 4000 miles they still looked better than the oem tires did with the same miles and driving habits.

It's normal on these cars for the tires to wear slightly more on the inside rears because of the negative camber..

Alignment was off

However these cars as stated above have some more camber then regular cars, that being said I always advise to check your tires on a constant bases.

Also the GDYR tires will not last 30K miles their a softer summer compound 20k depending if your pushing it and not pushing the car hard.

Do you know what those little rubber bars inside each of the tread are?
