Condensation in Rear Camera '15 1LE

Trip to the dealer in order.

Occurred after a power wash this am. Anybody know if the camera can be removed without pulling off the rear fascia?

Looks like it may clip in from below over the tag area?

Should be a design criteria (fully sealed) for this type of exterior camera tho.

While I agree, GM won't. I have seen several warranties get kicked back because a tech wrote that the customer used a pressure washer and "X" component failed. It's just not common weather to have 100 psi water jetted at a vertical surfaces on any car. The cameras are pretty cheesy anyway, maybe when this one gets replaced try not to let the pressure washer hit it directly.

Yes any exposed electronics are designed for the elements....the manufacturer has no idea where the car will end up so they are all designed to take anything from -20 and salt to 110 in the shade.

wait for it to go away if it comes back with out power washing then take it to the dealer. You do mean a home power washer not car wash power washer. if it happened at a car wash then it would be covered under warranty.

If water got in water/air can get out. Hair dryer on medium or low setting for few minutes should heat up the air inside and around it and help it evaporate and get out. Or just park it out side on nice warm sunny day in the sun back end facing the sun and it should clear right up.

I agree, after looking at it some more and doing some research (exploded view of parts diagram) that only way to replace or align would be to completely remove rear fascia. There are 2 screws fastening it in from the back side that can barely be reached by finger with the tag off.

Update: After a few days, it was back to normal. Yes it was a car wash (wand type) manual washer, not a home power washer. Just need to be cautious about shooting directly at the camera here on &/or cover it (lens area) with some blue masking tape prior to wash...

I've pressure washed mine for the past couple years with no issues. Could be a defect. I've done this on multiple vehicles. Never has any issues.

should be covered under warranty then. tell them when you go to the car wash water gets in the camera. It was designed to withstand a car wash.

A car wash pressure washer should be no different than a rain driven storms a Camaro can get caught in!!!

I'm going to give it some time. Still over 2 yrs left on warranty and plentyof miles. Don't want them yanking off the rear bumper cover and risk screwing something else up in the process. It's all clear for now, and with some precaution, I should be able to avoid a re-occurence in the future.
