Given I already have the 6.2 LT1 in my C7 Vette, I'm opting for a Gen6 V6 Camaro LT for my daily driver. Yup, it will be driven in the relentless winter conditions of the majestic Poconos.

You're going from a C7 to a Camaro? Why is that?

I'm also waiting to see what the next ZL1 has in store. That Nurburgring video looks promising. I'm just hoping they fixed the overheating problems the LT4's have been having. Anybody see the Motor Trend video of Randy trying to lap the car for best drivers car and the car was down on power to the point were it struggled to get over 100mph on the straights towards the end.

I already have a V6 Camaro so I don't want to get another. I would love a V8 but I don't need 455hp as I don't track my car, it would be for cruising and light commuting. I'd pony up an extra $1500 above the V6 to get a V8 even if the HP wasn't all that much higher than the V6.

If I intended to hit the track at all then 1SS it is.

Basically, I'd like to see a midlevel V8 return and set in such a way that it pulls 2.0T/V6 buyers up but not SS buyers down.

I struggle with this every day. The sensible side of me says the V6 will cost less upfront and at the pump, wont have the stanchion spoiler, and I don't need the V8 power, but when I look at what the SS can do (it hits some ZL1 like numbers) I can't help but want it. Will have to drive both but really tough call

i cant help but keep insurance premiums in mind...the difference between a v6 and v8 insurance wise is pretty large...hundreds of bucks depending on where you live and what carrier you have...but most of us dont have SS or even v6 money sitting around to buy the 2016 outright...so youll need collision because you'll be financing...which is where most of the premiums cost comes from....

while a 1SS invoice is mighty close to a spec'd out v6....the difference in insurance premium has me thinking of v6...especially since it will be a caged animal 4 days a week...

So something akin to the RT trim level on the Challenger. I can certainly understand that. I probably fall into the same group as you, I want a V8, but don't have a use for that much power.

I'm sincerely happy for you. I wish I was in a position to afford a car that nice as my first car. Hell, I don't want to spend that much on a car right now, but I'm still going to because I want to buy a car that I enjoy driving.

The new Camaro V-6 running a 13.5 qtr is right there with the better muscle cars of the late 60s early 70s. Beating some. My '69 ram-air III goat was working hard to get into the mid-13s. My 67 GTO was in the 14s. Heck a v-6 Honda accord will do 14s now!

I do not remember what my buddy's 70-71? Hemi-Cuda was turning. I know top end was insane and blessed to be here on those bias ply polyglas tires. Traction and stability control back then was called the clutch and gas pedal.

To me it would depend upon sound, pull and ride. Of course $$s would be factored in. One plus for he V-6 is no wing requiring body work right away.

I have this same struggle! I'm torn between the SS and waiting a year for the ZL1. The SS is everything I need. The ZL1 is just excess! But you know how that is. Too much HP sometimes seem like having too much money in your bank account, or a woman who is to well-endowed. There can't ever be enough! My rational brain says no, but the other side is drooling like a dog eyeballing a t-bone! Ever feel like that?
