Thanks for answering that, It is correct in my case, and how to wire it constant i guess directly as Leadfoot said would be a couple of ways.

I chose this one:
http://www.amazon.com/JooVuu-compact.../dp/B018RLX5PK
It's got a supercapacitor instead of a battery - essential in hot climates because batteries can malfunction if they get too hot.
Very discreet because it has no screen. It connects to your smartphone by wifi to control the settings and view the video.
I mounted it in front of the rear view mirror.

Here's a good place for reviews:

https://dashcamtalk.com/

Go to the forums for more info on a particular Cam you may be looking at...

Thanks for the guidance in this thread and the threads about hardwiring a radar detector. Everything went smoothly, and I even knew to watch for the blue piece coming off the white connector (which it did).

Thanks so the various forum members, if it wasnt for your hep, I wouldn't haven been able to do this myself.
Will this work for a Go Pro? I am going to turn on the looping setting in the camera and would like to hardware.

Just wondering if your hardware setup would work.

Thanks! And a great work!

Does it do live view to your phone?

Amazon was out of stock of the product Night Vision used, but this should work right?

I had the F770 installed.... hooked to the battery. I like the wifi to control things and the vids are really clear. I put the rear camera in as well - I don't view it much but I get the audible update when I get into the car and if there are too many incidents reported.. Ill check the car outside. Leaving and re-entering the car makes two incidents. If I get three in the voice notes - someone was very close and caused motion to the car.

I installed the Lukas blackbox, it is quite possibly one of the best dashcams you can buy. It is a little bit pricier, but when you look at what it has and offers, to me it was a no brainer.

https://www.amazon.com/LK-9370-Camer...as+camera+wifi

It has a supercapacitor, wifi -link to your phone app, huge sensor for HD images, rear camera setup, GPS. I use the cigarette lighter and the Camera comes on when I power the car on.

This thing has helped me record quite a few idiotic drivers running red lights and stop signs. Also has a clip of me wasting a dodge srt392 somewhere in the history, if it hasn't already been recorded over. :-)

Can you run the camera and the radar detector off of the same taps? I've already hardwired the detector and wasn't sure if you might overload a fuse.

Thanks,

Thanks,
I would think it's OK. GEN5DIY sells a PnP harness made just for that. I just bought the radar detector harness for my Canyon and it was a very simple installation. I plan on getting one for my Camaro soon

Thanks,

It depends!

Which camera did you get? I was thinking about upgrading my Rexing dash cam setup to the 4K version, with the HD rear camera, but it pulls much more current than my current setup. I also have a radar detector wired to the overhead console as well.

You need to take a look at how much amperage your devices pull as it varies among dash camera makes and models.

Looking to install Radar (Escort 8500) and Dash cam ( Viofo A119S), curious to know if anyone has had luck off the same tap as well?

Plan on Tapping into the switched Purple/white for 12+ and black for 12-
