Well realistially, is there a place tha sells the ZR1 below 120K, brand new? That 30K difference is the same as the 30K difference between the ZL1 and M5.

In what universe???????? 2 things that drive me nuts on this site, if the Camaro isn't enough lets bring out the 120k, 2 seat sports car ZL1 to beat sedans and pony cars and the "it may be faster, but yours looks better" crap.

Here is an example from Car and Driver testing.
M5 - 11.9 @ 123 mph
ZL1 - 12.3 @ 118 mph

But it's become fairly common knowledge that the ZL1 isn't a 1/4 mile monster. It seems to be more setup for a road course.
your right and given some of the times the zl1 been running on the street i say the m5 is faster.

Anyone get the new GM High Tech Peformance mag?

In it they test the ZL1.
GM High Tech said a "professional driver" that had a lot of experience driving the ZL1 was able to run 12.1 @ 116-117 mph (something like that) in the cooler early morning air.

But later in the day, the average Joe's (press representatives, etc) couldn't do any better than something like 12.9 @ 114 mph (again something like that - don't have the mag with me right now). It mentioned, most their times were in the 13s. Also, the engine was probably getting heat soaked with lots of runs.

The car was an automatic ZL1.

But it does show what a skilled driver (even with an auto) can do with the car, compared to the averge person.

+1 calling it a "Maro" or spelling it incorrectly is pure folly.

Put a set of 4:56 gears in the ass end of a ZL1 and see what kind of quarter mile you can pull. My guess is the car would dip in the 11's with just that. These cars are geared way too high for quarter mile runs IMHO. I bet little Johnny Beemer would see nothing but tail lights then. ZL1 for the win (with gears)!

Being an auto especially, even if they sucked at the driving, it does NOT explain dropping 5MPH! Something is amiss there......
