Unless you're using something like ATE Blue, it's very hard to know when exactly you start bleeding the new fluid. Therefore, you'll likely need more than the capacity of the system. I'd not start the flush if I don't have at least 2-3 bottles of 500ml containers.

I just changes from Super Blue to Motul and I used almost 3 bottles to get all the blue out. This was also my first time using speed bleeders and I loved them!

2 500ml bottles usually gets it done for me. Just watch closely on the first one you bleed and do approx the same amount at each wheel. The RR will require a little more because it is furthest from the reservoir. The Motive bleeder works great as a one man operation and it is amazingly efficient. Make sure the bleeder cup is slightly higher that the bleeder. I use a longacre racing products magnetized bleeder bottle to make this easier. The clear tubing is nice too.

Quick question, I'm hoping to make it out to the track soon. You guys mention bringing all these items with you to the track but do you guys always have someone there you know to watch the items or does everyone just bring their stuff and leave it unguarded?

I'm curious if I need to get a container with a lock on it or not because I'm most likely going to be going there solo and won't know anyone.

If I attend with the truck, I just leave most of the stuff in it, but otherwise, well, I leave it in the open. Even when I come with friends, they usually go out on the track with me anyway.

When I go without the truck, I also leave my laptop or other expensive electronics home.

get a large plastic storage bin that fits that small hole called a trunk and a small tarp. I keep all fluids, parts etc.. in box, cover with tarp over night. Tracks are much safer than most neighborhoods. When there are Porsche GT3's in 18 wheelers, our stuff is of no desire.

I leave my stuff out and unlocked. Generally a bunch of friendly folks, and maybe only 80-100 people who know others there, that I'm not too worried about theft. That said, I take a few minor steps...I have a cheap $25 needle torque wrench I bring to the track instead of my good, expensive one. Somewhat similar with most of the tools, I've got a couple of cheap(er) sets that I'll bring to the track because a) they are cheaper and b) as a set they come in a carrying case that makes it easy to transport and identify what might be missing.

I also label my name on some of the parts as well, not to prevent theft ,but because tool loaning happens and I want to make sure that if things get borrowed, people know who it goes back to. Mostly the entire kit, jack and things like that.

Also, If the event is part of a big festival or something that might be another story.

I have a plastic box with air gage, torque wrench, bottled water, windshield washing fluid and wipes and any other spares I am bringing. I also bring a folding chair, mini cooler and popup awning. All this will fit in the trunk. I just make sure the lid is secured on the box and my stuff is grouped together during my runs. I haven't ever felt like anyone there would steal anything.

I like the notebook idea, I am going to add that to the list. Mostly to keep track of air pressures at this point. A temp gun would also be a good addition to go along with checking pressures.

At some point, having a written or printed checklist becomes more than just a luxury. Don't ask.

Wow, it is good to see this and the whole section in general doing well.

The drag strip is like sniffing glue, it's cheap, it's a decent buzz, it doesn't last long and they are all the same.
Road racing is like China White Heroin, the buzz is stronger, the high lasts for hours, it's extremely addictive and they are all different.
I can't wait for my next
Track fix.

Back from the dead.

What is a good tire pressure gauge to purchase. Middle of the road price wise. Can it be had at a parts store, or do I need to hit amazon?
