Why the hell would someone buy a SS and then a 1LE SS just to say the 1LE was a waste a money? Sounds to me like someone bought some of the dealers BS.

The only problem is it really "mostly" a track car. Not to say that you can't drive it on the street, but you have to be very careful. You have to make sure that those tires are hot and sticky to make them planted to the ground and don't make the rear end swing out from behind you. You just have to be VERY careful out in the cold weather. |

I had a 2010 SS and pu 110kmi on it. I traded it in on a 2014 1LE.
After 110,000 miles you can say I knew the car, power wise the cars are similar except certain gears pull harder than the other it seems 1st and 2nd the ss had a bit more grunt, but 3-4-5 the 1LE pull harder. Now turns is the ss I can take at 55-60 I can EASILY drive through at 80 . No lie no joke. I also had 275 20x9 on all four corners on the ss so the playing field for rubber was closer. The 1LE is a great car, better than the SS In many ways. I know had em both trust me. Now the Zl1 is considerably more money and the supercharger leaves a BIG question for LONGEVITY. Can I put 110k miles on that and have it still be reliable ? Dunno...I would bet against it. BUT performance wise it has a lot more hp/tq. If that much power was necessary at the track why the 7 litre in the z28 ? Less hp and tq. I think what would settle this argument would be a run at the RING for the 1le. That seems like the world benchmark. I wonder why they NEVER ran it there ? Me thinks b/c it's number would be damn good. I also enjoy the pedigree and history the 1le brings to the table, less production numbers that the zl1 is cool too.

I know this is an old thread but I would say this...i would add a VTC to the 1LE....I had buyers remorse and own a ctsv....but after only a CAI and the VTC, i enjoy the shiz outta my car.
Love it for what it is....drive the hell out of it. If your not having fun...the your driving too slow...hahahah |

I wish I had got a Zl1. I get bored with power easily.. And I need to mod. Not only is the 1LE in stock form slower than my previous car, but it's also just very slow in general to where I don't even enjoy putting my foot down much. The 1LE may be faster on tighter road courses but the ZL1 is faster on bigger courses. But the main thing is how much fun I can have on the street and the ZL1 is the winner in that aspect. Also the supercharger whine.... Shit had me hooked on the car when I first heard it.
That said, I'm still proud to have a 1LE. I like the pedigree, history, and low production numbers as someone else mentioned above. I do NOT like having to explain it to people and I do NOT like people confusing it for a ZL1 (cause of the wheels I guess?) and then having to tell them that it's not.

keeping it simple ..i did lt arh exhaust vengeance racing cam kit with kaotic cam made 484/434 on a mustang dyno with a good tune i kept close to stock gas mileage and drivability ....1LE IS LIGHTER THAN A ZL1 BY ABOUT 200LBS AND its faster at the same power levels ..unless its an automatic with big power ...do a nice cam and be done !!!

I could have had either, but IMHO the 1LE looks way better. I don't like the bulky look of the ZL1. I much prefer the new smaller grille opening of the 1LE. I am installing an AGP kit next week to make up for the power difference tho
