Need help with 99 Silverado Z71

I bought a Silverado and am in need of a new ignition. Problem is that GM apparently offered 4 different ignitions on them in 99. I was wondering if anyone here would be able to look it up in a GM service system and tell me what ignition I need with the VIN. it would be greatly appreciated!

Which body style do you have? 1999 was a transition year for the Silverado. Do you have the '88-'99 style or '99-'07 style? The older style will have a 5.7 350 engine with a distributor ignition and the newer style engine (5.3/4.8) has a coil pack on each cylinder. This is probably why there are 4 different ignition systems offered in 1999........

Inever considered that! it is the new style with the 5.3. What I can find though shows there are multiple ignitions for the newer 5.3 model.

I would go to the parts department at your local Chevy dealership, give them your VIN, and get the part numbers for the coils (if that is the issue you're having). If you like the price, get them there. If not, at least you now have the part numbers and you could look somewhere else.
