How's the acceleration with AC on?
How's the acceleration with AC on? Noticeable/significant decrease in power? I can't stand it and want to know in case I decide to purchase a Camaro.
Thanks, |

Haha it's funny because my previous car had a 1.2L engine and when it was very hot outside and AC on almost max, the car shut down at stoplights

It's pretty much unnoticeable. On the 4th Gen the compressor disengages during WOT. I wouldn't be surprised if the same holds true for the 6th Gen. If it does it would be no different than going WOT without the A/C

No difference.
Of you are sitting at a light idling at 750 rpm and click on the A/C the only thing you notice is cold ,cold air. No noises or changes in RPM.

I thought this too, however they changed it on the 6 gens that even while at wide open throttle the A/C system is still running.

I've scorched some pretty fast cars down in Mexico with my Camaro and I've never bothered to turn off the AC to do it. Maybe if I was facing a Vette or one of the better Porsches I might need to turn off the AC

The only thing I've ever noticed about the car with the AC on is the reduced DFCOdisable snap-crackle-pop on decel.

Not that noticable unless its real hot and muggy. But is not because the AC is on, its just the air quality is bad getting into the engine.

In my 6th gen with the LT1 V8 I noticed absolutely no difference with the AC turned on. RPM doesn't surge at all, power feels the same, and good cold air blowing in the vents. I went on a 6 hour road trip last weekend and had nothing but good to report. Even the fuel economy didn't get any lower. Was avging 30MPG with cruise control.

You will not notice the difference on the street.
Maybe there would be an e.t. difference at the drag strip, BUT GUESS WHAT? You are instructed to turn off the AC at the strip so water doesn't drip on the pavement and DISQUALIFY you. |
