Be pretty nice to be gaming on a 55" plasma tv though. Be like you are actually in the wall. BTW CoD sucks for PC. Its all people hosting servers on their computer so there is going to be massive lag. I think they supposed to change that in the next one that comes out at the end of the year.
yeah, i got the bare minimum when it comes to alienware, but the bare minimum for them is a pretty damn good gaming computer. Thanks though, i guess

and it's weird that i hear that from you about CoD. Everyone always says the PC version is tons better than consoles. Except for the hardcore gaming console user's of course. lol

As for the Alienware, they are overpriced. I got my Core i5 4GB laptop with a 1GB 5650 graphics card for $700. It was the best priced gaming laptop I could find, nothing else was even close. You can build an even better desktop for $700. But some people like the ease of buying from a manufacturer and for the warranty.

CoD on console has it own servers that you can connect to. On the PC to play CoD you have to connect to a user hosted server therefore theres a limit on bandwidth (lower then on a company hosted server) so the more people you get the lagger it gets. Also when the person decides to go have dinner or go to bed on the PC version once he leaves the server is dead and therefore you get kicked. At least thats what I've been told.

Congrats on the Alienware. I got my Aurora 4/30/2005 and its still around (I don't know why I remember that date, strange!). While I've always built my own PC's (and have a degree in Computer Science!) Alienware at the time had this rebate deal that made it cheaper than if I was to build it myself (It was like $500 rebate + free shipping), so I pulled the trigger and got it. Their support is good and the machines are built and setup well, however mine was missing a cable for the SB Audigy Card, which was included in the box but should have been installed in the PC. Took 2 seconds to fix but glad I checked it.

Anyway if you are looking for a turnkey gaming machine they are nice but a bit overpriced unless you catch a deal. I'm a die hard AMD guy and they no longer sell AMD based computers so I won't be going to them again unless its a smokin deal. I'm overdue for a new Computer, but this one still runs good and handles what I need... However I've been taking a lot of HD video with my Rebel T1i and while I haven't fired up Sony Vegas to manipulate it yet, I have a feeling when I do its gonna go pretty badly.

Price for performance: 460
Performance: 5850
460 can be clocked to be as good as the 5850.

This is what my friend who builds gaming rigs for a living told me.

Actually, certain clans host CoD off of true servers (like my clan). I prefer Counterstrike though...

Nice machine. I have an AW also, but I got it from the real AW factory before Dell took over. Dell is doing a good job with them though, great looking and fast and much better ship times.

to the Falcon owner, those are the top of the line, always have been. The prices came down to reality lately too which makes it possible to get one.

So I did some financial shifting and some smoothing talking. Talked my wife into letting me get a:

Intel Core i7 930 Quad Core Processor (2.8GHz, 8MB Cache)
6GB Triple Channel 1333Mhz DDR3
Dual 1GB GDDR5 NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460 - SLI Enabled
500GB - SATA-II, 3Gb/s, 7,200RPM, 16MB Cache HDD
Lunar Shadow, Alienware Aurora Chassis
Genuine Windows 7 Home Premium, 64bit, English
AlienFX Color, Terra Green
Single Drive: 24X CD/DVD burner (DVD+/-RW) w/double layer write capability
Integrated 7.1 Channel Audio
Alienware™ High-Performance Liquid Cooling

Got my buddies discount so it was only 1800 for the whole lot.

I thought my PC died yesterday which almost justified in my head buying a new one..... Too bad I'm so good with computers I fixed it fairly quickly :-(

Just feel bad getting rid of a PC thats basically worthless but still runs great and does what I need.
