Express up windows

Ok... bit of an odd one... not sure if it really belongs here.... it's sort of an issue...

Anyone know how much force it takes to stop the express up window? Here's the story. Out cruising last night with the Mrs. I hit the window switches to put the windows up... I didn't realize she had her arm up on the door.. she yells... said I pinched her... I'm like quite being a baby... the window will stop before it hurts you..

now I had express up windows in the Stang... As soon as the windows hit any kind of light resistance they would retract! Well, to continue my story... I explain about the windows stopping and decided to show her... So I hit the driver's switch and stuck my arm out the window.... bad move!

HOLY MOTHER OF.... Dang that hurt! I could not believe how hard the window closed on my arm before it decided to retract! I look at my arm today and there is a good size firggin' bruise! What the heck!

So... does anyone know what kind of specs there are? How much resistance the window has to have before it retracts? To me it seem my was a little bit to much!

Yikes!!! From what I read in the manual, it said any obstruction would cause the window to go back down. That doesn't sound like the case. The exact amount of pressure I'm not sure of though. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

Just to be certain you are letting go of the window switch after the open/close starts right? The manual says that if you hold the switch then this is what you get:

Express Window Anti-Pinch Override
The anti-pinch feature can be overridden by holding the window
switch all the way down. The window will lower for as long as the
switch is held. Once the switch is released, the express mode is
re-activated. In this mode, the window can still close on an object
in its path. Use care when using the override mode.

definitely let go... basically hit the switch with my left hand and then stuck it out the window.. it retracted but pinched my arm pretty darn good!! Anti-Pinch is not the proper term! LOL!

Need to find a way to do more testing! LOL!

That's a bummer. I guess I'll have to do a field test myself. Like you, I'll need to find a volunteer though

Ok... so I go out and decide to try the anti-pinch again... sure enough it works just fine! I hold my hand over the window and I barely bump the window and it retracts! hmmm... ok.. did that about 6 times and it works just fine! ARGH!

So then I go for a nice little cruise... about 20 minutes into the drive I decide to try it again. I hit the window switch and then put my hand above the window... OMG! The window about took my fingers off! Ok, slight exaggeration... but it took a LOT more force with my hand to stop the window! What the heck... try it again and it then it works just fine!

Seems the anti-pinch is only a sometimes anti-pinch! Well, that makes it an intermittent thing which means it will be about impossible for the dealer to look at...

I don't think it will pinch if you try it while licking a 9 volt battery. You might want to try that! Sounds like you'll try anything. Is that why your user name is Scrming? You are cracking me up. Thanks for the laugh!

I guess its more like an "Express Window Penalty" if the car is in motion.

it sometimes depends which finger you are sticking out the window. Can you also test by sticking something else out?
