Royal purple hps vs Joe Gibbs ls30

Which one would you use? Any pros and cons of either one? Do both last atleast 3k miles between oil changes? This would be for my forged ls3 supercharged.

Joe Gibbs is what we use in all of our builds! Whether we have supercharged it or put a cam in it we won't use anything else. Its great stuff and will last on average 3k or 4 months, depending on how you drive and if you race it.

Let me know if you have any other questions! Feel free to call, PM or email us at any time!

Best regards,

Kayla L.

It's more important to change it regularly and use a quality filter than choosing one quality oil vs another.

So what Oil Company actually produces Joe Gibbs oil ? Because you know it is someone elses oil re-branded with his name on it ?

I wouldn't use RP on anything.

Joe is good. Amsoil is great. Redline, etc. Plenty of good oils, and RP is not one of them.

I'd change it every 3k miles or so. No biggie since its not a DD. Just had read somewhere that Joe Gibbs was a racing oil and only good for 500mi.

+1 Royal Purple is a very basic synthetic oil. There are many better to use, some of which are even available for $26 for 5 quarts.

Get on AMSoils site and look at all the tests. RP is towards the bottom of every one of them!

On my other Camaro I always used m1 extended performance. Also M1 oil filter. Never had a issue. I was told to get oil with high zinc for my new motor

Nothing wrong with M1. Their 0w-40 is a very light weight for a 40 ... very close to thicker 30w oils like those from Redline. It has a high HTHS of 3.6 and a seemingly pretty robust add pack. I'm sure their 5w-30 would be fine for a daily driver as well.
