Isn't that rumored to be the mid-engine, twin turbo V8?

No such thing as a mid-engine Corvette planned for production.

That is a rumor that has been around for years, but not true as far as a production car goes.

Who knows, but considering the last ZR1 had a good bit more power than the ZO6...You could bet power.

Don't sell the SS short, It's a 4door with a 6 speed Manual, Mag Ride and a great interior. I had a 2013 SRT Charger and it was a great road and traveling car, But I recently test drove a 15 SS M6 and it was a lot more fun.

Definitely not. The price and the fact it won't return next year is what I have against it.

I would like to see the Gen6 Camaro ZL1 get a larger blower, TVS1900 or so. Even if they slow the blower down to make the same 650hp, It would be an upgrade in all ways.

You can't say that Impalas are selling to police depts. in droves. and they are built in Canada. I see and Impala SS for 2017 and this was in Automotive Magazine at the end of last year,

2016 Chevrolet SS: What To Expect

By AM Staff on November 17, 2014 Cars TweetShare

Many are speculating that Chevrolet is thinking about bringing in a replacement for the current Chevrolet SS model and although Chevrolet has not said anything yet, auto enthusiasts are already starting to make possible guessing and speculation about what we can expect the new Chevrolet SS successor to have.

Some are saying that the new Chevrolet SS or whatever they are going to call it will be coming in as an Alpha based model that will be made in the US or maybe a Chevrolet Impala SS although they seem to think that this will only happen once the Chevrolet SS stop selling in Australia. If that is true, we might be looking at a 2017 model here.
If Chevrolet is really planning to have a replacement, they can probably expect them to make a lighter model as that seems to be the goal of every automaker, reduce the weight so that the vehicle is able to gain more ponies.
So what do you think the Chevrolet SS replacement will come with?

So if we are speculating who knows

Think about how poorly the Z/28 sales are and yet how great the demand is for the Hellcat, and yes I realize the hellcat is cheaper. The majority of people don't care how fast a car is around a track. They want something semi comfortable that will fly when you put the pedal to the floor. People always say they want a racecar to drive on the street yet when Chevy gave them one the sales were horrible because that's not what people really want...
I'm in the north Dallas area and there are 28 Z/28's within 100 miles of me sitting on dealer's lots waiting for buyers according to cars.com. One has been reduced to $66k (5 miles on the odometer). Yikes!

Agreed, but I like to keep my cars stock as the resale value is generally better and you have no warranty issues. Also if you sell it during the warranty period (i.e. under 3 years) its a tough sell if you tell your buyer you car has no warranty.

I personally think Chevy used the Mustang and Challenger as their benchmarks and then aimed higher again. I wouldn't be surprised if they used the current ZL1 as the benchmark for their top line SS and the new ZL1 will be a GTR / 911 fighter.

The ZL1 won't have the hoodline limitation the vette has so a larger displacement blower might be used as well.

Great time to be a musclecar / Sports car fan

i dont think there will be 2 Z cars this time around. That being said i can see a ZL1 with some sort of package with the CC brakes and more aero. Maybe call the Z equipped with that the Z28? either way I hope your right. It would be amazing for it to be compettive with GTR

This is a good question given what the Z06 delivers and raises two other questions.

Is the 2014 the high watermark for Corvette in terms of speed and acceleration?

Is the LT4 the highest power, highest torque we will ever see from GM powertrain developments?

"Side rocket boosters!"
