Homemade ZL rear spoiler.....

UPDATE: See post #44 to see the finished product installed.

I bought this expensive SLP high lip spoiler painted IBM in early 2011 but never installed it.

I originally wanted the ZL series rear spoiler but evidently it isn't offered to buy without a ZL Camaro under it.

Earlier this year I finally installed the SLP rear spoiler and right away realized that it was not my cup of tea. I just came across it a while ago while I was cleaning my spare bedroom out and decided that it was time to make a choice as to what to do with this rear spoiler.

I came up with these 3 choices....

A) I could list it on e-bay and get 1/3 what I paid for it.

B) I could install it on my Camaro and hope it will grow on me

or.......

C).......

And my final decision has been made....

Cut the sh** out of it!

Here we go...

I cut off the over hang ends to make it look like the rear spoiler I can't buy.
Currently I glued the end caps on with epoxy resin, duct taped them into position and will let them dry for 24 hours.
Next I will file off the rough edges and give the edges a slight bullnose before I spray the filler primer.

Spoiler already looks 20 times better and looks exactly like a ZL spoiler w/ the ends cut. Look forward to seeing some finished pics.

I dunno if you saw the thread I started, dude, but:

http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=254034

SLP is selling lightly blemished original ZL spoilers. There were originally 12 and now it's down to 4.

No point in buying since your custom job looks pretty much on par with an original, though. Amazing work!

More pics. Tried it on for size one more time before beginning the finishing process minus the IBM repainting.
