Dimming Mirrors

Are all the mirrors supposed to dim or just the drivers side and rearview? My concern is my passenger side mirror isn't dimming and I thought it is supposed to?

Why would they dim just two mirrors and not all three? I always get blinded by the passenger side.

I wish I could turn off the dimming.

I never understood why the passenger side mirror does not dim. It is a "feature" of all 2010 to current Camaros with auto dimming. My 2010 SS was the same.

If anyone knows why this is true please chime in. I would love to know the logic.

Looks like the engineer who designed the passenger side mirror wasn't as bright as the engineer who designed the driver side mirror.

It is that way on the Corvettes too. Probably just a money saving issue.

If that was a facebook quote I'd hit the "like" button on that one...

I would also guess it's just a cost issue. It doesn't seem like it would cost that much more to dim both sides, but....... it adds up.

Why don't they have a keyhole to open your door with your key, on both doors? I'll bet you never even noticed you don't have one on the passengers side.

I did know that but I never use the keyholes anyways, I always use the fob. It makes more sense to me to dim the passenger side when I can adjust the drivers side down and actually look out the drivers side when I need to. Anyways i still love my car and that's my only complaint about it so I'd say that's pretty good. $60,000 car and cant dim all mirrors is sad if you ask me though. If someone could get that side to dim I may be interested in purchasing what's required to do it. They would have to keep the heating capability too.

Not a cost issue because it actually costs them more money to have two different types of mirrors. Much cheaper to only design and build one. They don't dim the passenger side mirror because its further away from view and at night would be almost impossible to see anything in the mirror if it dimmed especially with tinted windows. Its a safety issue. All GM vehicles have had only the drivers side mirror dim for many years now. Its not just the Camaro.

The passenger side mirror is convex and does not return as much "glare" as the drivers side which is flat.

I have confirmed in my available resources that if you have the automatic dimming feature, it is only the rear-view mirror and driver side mirrors that have this feature!
