x-lethal, the V8 is stock 2.5" tubing
The resonator is there to remove the rasp, it gives the deep tone along with the Axel back.

I looked down my Camaro and saw the stock X pipe with no resonator. Yet tone is low.

No comp. series for V6. Its only for V8.

Yeah street is not loud but sounds racier.

So you have the Magnaflow cat-back installed right? You say you looked under your car at the system and saw the stock X-pipe? Do you mean the Magnaflow Tru-X pipe was installed (looks like an X), or was the actual resonated x-pipe (looks like a muffler from outside) installed?

Thanks...and yeah vids/pics would be awsome.

Yes I have the Magna Flow cat back, but I was referring to the stock exhaust.

I removed the enitre exhaust and couldnt find a resonator!!

It has a Tru X pipe welded in the middle. Even my dealer has critisized this ugly setup . It seems that GM was relaying on those huge cans to delete the rasp rather than having a resonater in the middle.

Magna flow setup, is resonated Tru X pipe. I think that this issue was discussed in detail in the Magna Flow exhaust thread.

From my side. Magna Flow rocks, the tips are wide and long, mufflers and resonator are shiny steel with Magna Flow Sign on them.

Sound and Performance is outstanding. You will have a Camaro with GT sound.

It vooomms all the time, but I really like it when the gear shifts .

Magna flow video on the magna flow. com is a good example. Others may mislead you. We only use cellphone camras and sound is really poor. It will get you confused.

Dont take Mustangs as a benchmark for your tone, you can never reach it with V6.

Stock exhaust has an h-pipe just after the 4 cats. Not long after that are two bullet style resonators, then the ugly cans at the end.

Cyber, you're saying your factory exhaust had an x-pipe and no resonators?

Will the GFX kit's diffuser get in the way of this installation? And anyone know how much an average shop might charge to install the system?

Well mine came in one long welded piece. Two long pipes welded in the middle. Couldnt really figure out whether the joint in the middle was a Tru X or as you mentioned an H?

I didnt open it. In all cases, it was ugly !!

But anyway there was no resonator box as the case with Magna Flow, and I'm facing a problem with the resonator touching the protective steel bars facing it.

Do you think that the pipe is resonated without a case?

Joint in the middle, a tube that runs perpendicular to the exhaust and connects them, is the h-pipe. An x-pipe is shaped just like an x, even if it's inside a case.

There are two bullet shape resonators just behind the brace, after the h-pipe. All the v6 cars, and the LS3 exhausts, look this way.

I'm not sure how the Magnaflow is constructed..

You seem to describe the stock exhaust very well, I only seen it for couple of minutes in the Garage.

They look like 2 beer cans , never imagined that they could be defined as a resonators.

Well done GM, a resonater in the size of a beer can

Magna Flow has an X pipe in a case (resonator) which according to them provides the deep tone.

I think that scriming has shown a detailed image of that, in some other thread on Magna Flow: http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=28427.

OOOOPPSS it seems that someone has crossed his image. May be it was X rated !!

Lmao, my car has been on a lift or three, lol. Beer cans,eh? They are a little bigger then that, but yep, those are the resonators!

If the can around the x-pipe holds the fiberglass, then the x-pipe inside is perforated. Could be, makes sense!

X-rated x-pipe!! Who would've thunk it??
