Radar detector question

Hello Team,

I recently got the Passport 9500ix radar detector. Great detector with GPS! At any rate, does anyone know if its possible for the patrol in the sky to issue a speeding ticket? I heard they can track your speed and radio down to the patrol cars to get you (and they write you the ticket), but was curious if the sky patrol themselves could actually issue you a ticket, say in the mail for example.

Any information is appreciated.

Cheers,

Heelhook

If the sky patrol suddenly swoops down upon you and snaps a photo of your car, the odds are yes.....j/k Usually there are marks on a long straightaway that the helicopter times when you cross (some math formula) then radios in to a patrolcar vehicle description and speed, direction of travel, etc.

install an aircraft radar on your roof? Or don't go that fast that you have to worry?

Go out when it's really dark and there's no one on the road and paint those highway markers black

All you need to know is the distance between the marks and a stop watch.

Distance / time = speed

Sho nuff

Its a little easier if you remember 60mph = 88 ft/s. That gets you in the ball park anyway

If you're a Seinfeld fan, Kramer did that on one episode to make the driving more enjoyable.

THAT IS THE CORRECT FORMULA - 88FT/SEC = 60 MPH

The air unit would use VASCAR.

It is highly unlikely that an air unit would be used in a metropolitain area for traffic enforcement for a few reason.

Budget constraints and other air traffic.

VASCAR is more likely used in rural open areas.

No, no, no. Get out there and space them farther apart with new ones. They'll never know.

Patrol plane pilot to his copilot the next day "Hey Pete how come everyone is only going 50 mph down there? I dunno know. Must be cheap gas or sumptin. "

And every additonal 10mph is equal to 14.66ft/s.

But doing that math on the fly while keeping track of a speeder isn't exactly easy.

So, just paint over every other marker. Saves paint and time
