Carbon fiber Hood insert detailing ?'S

Did a little work on the Z today. Spent some time going over the areas that needed attention. Over all the car is in good shape save a few minor scratches that have been there from day one.

My hood insert was replaced recently it had some serious hazing under the clear that would not polish out and I didn't want to press my luck with it so GM replaced it under warranty.

Now the new one upon close inspection has some minor imperfections. I have tried to resist polishing it, waxing, claying, glazing, and etc.

I have resolved to attempt to make it better.

What polish could you recommend that is very gentile and that could be applied by hand?

I cannot get myself to invest in a pc yet. I know that it is inevitable but for now I can live with the paint that I have and all the little blemishes that come with it.

Your thoughts and process to improve the finish and protect the insert are welcome.

Regards,

Charlie T

That's clear-coated right? If so, you can treat it just like your paint. Get something like a Revive polish (assuming you're an Adam's person).

Yes I have fallen into that catagory. I have been poking around youtube. Have you had any experience with the Jet Seal products? Chemical Guys had a video on it.

Sure haven't. I'll have to look into it. CG doesn't make bad stuff though.

What type of defects/blemishes are you looking to fix?

Minor scratches nothing deep. I was hoping to find a product or products for this carbon fiber hood.

Its cleared so pretty much you can treat it just like any other painted part of the car, we have a 2013 black on black ZL1 vert in the warehouse... the cf insert corrected just as easily as the rest of the hood.

If you want an over the counter polish that will work great by hand is Meguiars Ultimate Polish (mind you it will still take a hella long time since you're doing it by hand).

If you get a DA, I would recommend Optimum Hyper Polish instead.
