Cold Air Intake

Just bought my 2011 SS. The car has a cold air intake on it. The filter is damaged, and I want to get a replacement, but I can’t find a brand name or part number on it anywhere. The inside of the metal tube is lined in orange. Does anyone know what brand it is?

Take the diameter and length and order similar filter.

It’s an oddball size, and I did order a smoker replacement. The car started throwing codes for a lean condition shortly after. I made sure it was on correctly and even took it off and reinstalled it, with the same result. When I throw the old filter back on, the code doesn’t come back.

For what a CAI adds to gains, could always put the factory airbox back in.

'C'mon, man' everyone knows a good CAI will require wheelie bars!

It does help, especially as part of a full build, but with a stock motor you won’t see much. There was a full test done here by JRE and the test car did pick up some power with a CAI.

As far as I know aFe® - Magnum Flow® Pro Dry S filters come in the same grey color, but it's just a guess.

Most likely your new filter lets in so much air that MAF sensor thinks there's a leak in the system.

Do a fuse pull on 5&20 with the new filter, and drive it tell it learns new trims , might work ?

Or get a tune , should have one done anyways... custom intake needs one. Not tested could be running lean or rich with bad data

Which is why for the OP I was going to suggest getting a used airbox cheap $. I don't think he cares so much and it's worth the hassles and hundreds of bucks for a tune and new filter to pick up a few hp for him. I don't think he shared the codes thrown so e.g. he isn't a big DIY guy with scanners and inclination to do all the buy a tuner and flash his ecm etc.
Also people who follow mods know CAI headers etc are likely to throw codes if certain brands are not chosen, which might also not yield the best horsepopwer. Not everyone cares so much about these things like some of us.
