Thank you for the great news Dragon! I was sad that I couldn't go to Indy since I am using the last few weeks of my vacation in October/November to go to the Texas NASCAR races and SEMA. Now it sounds like I am going to get something to hold me over for a few months untill I can get my own Camaro.

2010 meets 2008: Chevy Camaro named ‘Official Vehicle of 2008 SEMA Show’

I saw this on leftlane.

The Specialty Equipment Market Association has announced that the 2010 Chevrolet Camaro will be the official vehicle of this year’s SEMA Show in Las Vegas. The SEMA Show is one of the largest automotive accessory trade shows in the world and will likely showcase GM Performance parts that will be available for the new Pony Car.

Chevrolet ended production of the Camaro in 2002 but Peter MacGillivray, SEMA VP of events and communications, says the iconic nameplate has such a rich history of customization that the new one is worthy of wearing the ‘official vehicle’ title. “The influence that the Camaro has had on the automotive industry and vehicle personalization is undeniable,” said MacGillivray. “Since the car was introduced in 1967, enthusiasts have fallen in love with the Camaro. It’s simply a great example of the passion and excitement that comes from this industry.”

The 2010 Camaro is slated to be introduced at the Indy 08, Back at the Brickyard Event in September. Earlier this year, pictures of a Camaro sporting GM Performance parts leaked, likely giving us an idea of what to expect from the SEMA Show in November.

The SEMA Show kicks off November 4.

Camaro to be spot lighted at SEMA

http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do...ticleId=127616

DETROIT — Look for the 2010 Chevrolet Camaro to be the dominating presence at the 2008 SEMA Show. Chevrolet spokesman Terry Rhadigan confirmed that the Camaro will be the official vehicle of SEMA.

In the past, SEMA featured select automotive marques — not vehicles — including Honda. But this year, the focus will be on the 2010 Camaro. "This year, there is no featured marque," said Rhadigan. "The focus is on (the new) Camaro. We'll bring several concepts that we've developed (in house), and a lot of the focus of the show and of the press conference on Monday will be on Camaro. It's the perfect car for SEMA, in terms of personalization and accessorization. It's an ideal fit."

Rhadigan said the work on the Camaro SEMA concepts has already started at the General Motors Technical Center in Warren, Michigan. He said he has seen renderings of the vehicles. "I don't want to sound like a teenager, but I was awed by them," he said. "I cannot wait to see the real things. Suffice it to say that the folks eagerly awaiting the Camaro will be excited." Rhadigan added that the customization "is not confined to powertrain" and hinted that "wheels and tires" will make a major statement.

Rhadigan emphasized that there will be no aftermarket or "partner vehicles" done for SEMA when it comes to Camaro this year. "GM will do all the concepts," he said. "It will give upfitter companies a good visual of the possibilities." He added: "Upcoming SEMA shows will have a heavy Camaro presence."

GM also confirmed that there will be no convertible versions of the Camaro at the 2008 SEMA show because convertible production is not slated until the end of the 2009 calendar year.

The public should not look for any Camaro SEMA teasers before August. "There may be something around the (Woodward) Dream Cruise," Rhadigan said. "We wouldn't show it at Dream Cruise, but we'll hint at it. We think we've got a heck of an announcement to make at SEMA."

SEMA runs from November 4-7.

What this means to you: Camaro fans, SEMA will be your moment in the sun. — Anita Lienert, Correspondent

I doubt that these cars are going in any compactors... more likely a museum...

Merged for aftermarket. Sema is going to have a ton of cool stuff to be shown. It also appears as though GMPP will have PLENTY of aftermarket parts to choose from.

We don't have any official info as of yet, but believe me....after NOV, we'll have a ton of info!!!!!!!!!!
