2015 Camaro SS Tune

I just recently purchased a 2015 2ss L99 with low miles. Looks to be in good shape but based on experience I know the car is basically stock but it does have a tune on it for sure! I even had a local camaro specialist confirm as well but he wants to charge me $400!to retune the car. Is there a way to get a tool or something of that nature and find out where tune came from or if the tune is any good. Just don’t know much about this and don’t want to spend $400 if it’s not necessary. Any advice would be appreciated!

Oh, you're opening a can of worms. If you're stock, you do not need a tune. There may be some minor benefit to having the A6 tuned for better shifting, but at this time, I think you're ahead of yourself.

$400 for a dyno tune on a modified car is fine, like after installing a cam or headers - not for a CAI install.

There are handheld tuners out there but I don't suggest you get one - not until you have something worthwhile to tune (power mods).

If it aint broke.......
A dealership can reflash to factory......but you may not like the end result.
The AFM and shift points may have been altered....and those are always for the better. Give it some time.

Thanks guys! That's exactly what I was thinking. I will just stick with it for now and then when I eventually add some Headers, and exhaust then I will go with a dyno tune.

If you want to temporarily turn off DOD (4 cylinder shut off) you can look into Range device that simply plugs into your OBD2 port.

If your car has a decent tune on it you won't be happy with it returned to the stock tune. A good tune on the L99 makes a big difference in the car compared to the stock tune.

Get an SCT X4 tuner, it can tune the transmission as well. Then you will have it for when you add an intake and headers. An email tune is the way to go in my opinion, a dyno tune is nice but @ $400-$600 every time you add something it's a lot. A hand held tuner from DynoSteve will get you tunes for life even when you keep upgrading. Check the you tube link below to see how an SCT X4 tuner can be used.

So after talking to Dynosteve. I might not have been clear about this in my earlier posts but I do not have the tuner from the previous owner or the stock tune file. So I would not be able to upgrade my tune without returning it to stock. So now I need more advice because my car still has the factory warranty on it so if I go to dealer and get it stock re flashed probably will void my warranty. Is there another way to get the stock file?
