Must be nice. In SC they can barely keep school buses on the road and replace textbooks.

I hope this isnt a public school, then again they likely get the car for free as everyone loves tax write offs. Also, whatever happened to going to school for the sake of I dunno...getting an education?

If they give a 14 year old girl the SS pictured, I dont want to hear any crying when she goes sideways and wrecks it. "Heres a 400hp muscle car! Try not to end that promising future with it!"

Bah, sorry. This article just stinks to me.

Wow, giving a 14 year old a 400 HP car for good attendance, etc. Hopefully her parents have more common sense then the people in the school district that came up with this.

Where I live if the county has some extra money they buy computers and text books and teaching supplies. I guess this works too, its not a complete waste of money. 1 student loses motivation to go to school for the next 4 years while the thousands of others have to keep taping their books bindings together.

Would be kind of funny if they decide to end this program and find out the girl who won was the superintendents niece lol

Mom and dad should sell the car and put the money towards college. That would be the best move.

Though I am sure dad would strongly disagree and will argue to keep the car in his garage. "For his daughter" lmao.

My school District does this every year, i believe they give a $20,000 Gift card sort of thing to the Elk Grove Auto mall. So the student that win can pick there own car. I think it is a cool idea.

EDIT:
Here is a link to it.

Seems like a huge waste of taxpayer money to me, if the district wants to just give away their money it should be in the form of a scholarship.

Its the schools job to educate, its my job to decide what vehicle and how its obtained that my child gets.

If you go to the link i posted, there are 10 High schools in my district, they pick one senior from each school and they do a raffle, and who ever wins gets the $20,000. But the money is not from the schools, district or state. It was actually a program started by the Auto Mall and all the money is donated from them.
