so I wouldn't brag too much on 3000 in 3 days.
Well that is probably BS for the simple reason that the system they use to book a car could not handle processing 1,000 orders in 40 minutes.

Also, the Solstice ordering occurred when the car came on-line, not 5 months before with no advertising whatsoever as is the case now.

My problem is I am holding off because I want to see what Berger, or Tom Henry Racing or whoever will be doing with special editions. Otherwise I want 2SS RS in JETSTREAM BLUE, which of course IS NOT AVAILABLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Their cars will be crazy fast. Unfortunately you are going to have to dig deeeeep into the wallet for one of them.

Actually I talked to my local dealer on monday and he said "new cars become a fad that will fade in 6 months and there will be deep discounts".
Has anyone guessed what the V8 automatic with headers, dual exhausts and fresh air intake would make in horsepower? I also wonder if the supercharger similar to the ZR1 will be put on the SS by some tuner.

They could start in January and still call it a 2010, but that isn't the reason

That is a big part of it, getting the suppliers to ramp up their production at least. As for that seat manufacturer they closed down one of their plants, there is still another plant at the same site.

These dates, including start of production, appear to be worst case scenario, which is what I would have expected. I would guess that by Feb 16th, not only will production have started, but that will be the day the first few hundred, if not first couple thousand, are loaded on semis and pulling out of the Oshawa plant on their way to delivery at a dealer near you... my opinion only.
You heard what you wanted to hear. My opinion only.

I don't mean to sound so negative to all of you, but GM has a schedule: Get visual design done in 2005. Show car in 2006. Engineer the car in 2006. test car in 2007. tweak design in 2007. work out manufacturing details in 2008. build LT/LS/SS in 2009. Offer Z28 in 2010 (). Or something fairly similar.

Point is, after over 3 years of working on a tight schedule, it cant be advanced in the final months. They would have been intending on building the car in feb 2009 as far back as feb 2005. The final announcement would be made only after they knew that they could meet that deadline. Perhaps the initial plan was for fall 2008, or maybe spring 2009. We won't know for sure. But they are going to be building the car when they say. It cant be moved at this point

My dealer required $500 down and agreed to sell it for MSRP with no markup. Considering how others are marking the car up, I am happy to hear that they are being fair to the customer.

Heard that if they offered blue on the SS model they would have taken over 5,000 additional orders

I have to say that for a car that most people HAVEN'T SEEN in person and even FEWER people have driven, 3000 is pretty damn good for the first few days. Especially if you consider that the vast majority of the population has no idea when the car is actually going on sale.

Remember, 3000 cars is only 1.5 weeks of production if they expect 100k per year.

I seriously doubt they would be building 2,000 cars a week in the first few months. That news clip was taken from last Thursday, Friday and Saturday stats I believe. How many cars have been ordered since? Canada only started ordering yesterday. Tomorrow should be another big ordering day.
