How Noisy is Your V6 on Hard Acceleration?

Like the title says how noisy is it on hard acceleration? Mine was moderately noisy, I wouldn't say it was knocking but sort of a lite diesel sound on hard acceleration using regular fuel. Using premium its much quieter almost silent but still different sounding. Anyone else notice this, seems to me this direct injected engine has a different sound to it compared to port fuel injected engines.

Not too noisy. It sounds like a Ferrari at WOT. I love it!

I drove one for 3 years and didn’t notice any particular, excessive noise. Probably used premium most of the time. I know what it DIDNT sound like. It didn’t sound like the one I drive now!

A few times mine has been very noisy @WOT<kinda scary I drove it 6k like this..........no more regular on this tune. I honestly just thought these direct injected engine were noisy. On premium its very quiet.

Still looking for someone that can look at the tune and tell me exactly what's been changed. I talked to the local dealer about loading the factory tune back into the car. He warned me its going to hurt the fuel mileage and throttle response a lot. He also told me they can't look at the tune to see any changes. The same guy has a new chevy turbo Camaro and the 1st thing he did was HAD IT TUNED! He said night and day difference on fuel mileage and drivability.

Guess I'm gonna have to pay for premium but it kills me to pay 60 cents more per gal! I can say this, If premium goes over 3.75 a gal the car will be going to the dealer and have the stock tune flashed back into it.

Have you thought about having a tuner add an 87 octane table to your tune with less timing. It wouldn't change your current tune when you want to run 93 but it will allow you to run 87 safely.

The DI system naturally makes more noise than port injection. Open the hood at idle, and you can hear the tick sound of the injectors.

Sorry, I've been very busy as of late. I've been stuck working late hours, and my wife has been working more weekends at the hospital than she usually does, which ruins my weekends because of my 1 year old.

You mean a gentle farting sound while in 4cyl AFM mode? Thanks, but no thanks.

I always run premium and mine is not noisy at all except at idle particularly during a cold start.

I don't know how you could not use premium on this high reving engine. It performs so much better (drivability wise at least) with premium than using regular.

Running 91 and don't hear what you're describing at WOT. Used to run 87 previously but still didn't notice anything that resembled a "lite diesel" sound. I also have a Chevy Duramax truck so have something as a reference for what I would consider "lite diesel".

Can't hear mine during acceleration, my exhaust is too loud to hear it. But at idle she sounds normal, and sounds great starting up and during operation. Not V8 great, but I'm pleased with what she is.
