Didn't the Camaro SS run faster lap times than the Nismo 370Z?

1st time for me on the road course so i sucked at driving!!! I let a couple of instructors make some laps... holy crap!!!! Let me tell you from the passenger seat they were tearing it up!!!

For anyone that doesn't think the camaro handles well needs to let some one that can really drive get behind the wheel!! Both instructors were very surprised how well the car handled considering how big it is! Both agreed it simply doesn't drive as big as it is! The only other comment was the V6 brakes were undersized for this kind of driving, but to be fair the V6 target buyer is not the road course racer! LOL!

[QUOTE=two_wheel_mayhem;890234]I love the car and it handles decent, but it wouldn't hang in the corners with my base model Dodge Neon with one leaky strut...sorry.

Now that's really FUNNY.....

Best JOKE of the day............

It had to be a joke...

It went from being a big heavy car that we all should just shut up that it's not as nimble as a 350Z, to no one knows how to drive it and now some of you all can beat anything through the corners that doesn't have a bowtie on it.

If I said Cobalt SS instead of base Neon, then what would you say?

As far as drag racing, you do know that a low 13, high 12 second car is just a quick car. A lot of ricers run those times with ease.

Get a 5th gen in the 10's (like a lot of 4th gen's run already) and see how long it takes to spit drivetrain parts. There's a reason not many Corvettes are at the dragstrip and it's called IRS. Same reason guys who have 600+ HP supras always want to race you from a kickdown.

Go ahead and re-read my 1st post, I think I said I love the new Camaro, just don't piss down my back and tell me it's raining.
ive done upwards of 350+ autocross runs at several PARKING LOTS across Texas. Autocross is for people who have no road course to go to. we race around cones. in a high school parking lot. a real course would have ROOM to open it up. which is why the camaro beat those weaklings with better handling at Laguna Seca. so you say the handling is not adequate. but its all relative. if you have ever been to an autocross event you would know that the fastest times are run by shifter carts...they beat every car. my point is your trying to find a scenario in which your dodge neon compares with the camaro, and that's rediculous, because it's obvious your stretching...

I don't understand why people are complaining about the car. Yes the car is alittle fat but what do you think it was going to be? This car has just started it will evolve into a better car with time.

I will state that this is by far not a complete list of times... These are just times submited by testing groups to fastestlaps. But I think it paints a good visual of what this car is capable of in the right hands.

People really need to understand, the first year of a new style car is really the test time for it. Really to get the bugs out in a way. Back in 1993 my Dad bought me a brand new Camaro for Graduation, I really loved the car but it had some kinks that needed working out. The next year was a better car.

It's not perfect but it IS fun, exciting, rewarding to look at and drive. If you bought one and don't feel that way about it don't come in here and complain and try and convince us we all made a mistake buying one. Just sell it and move on. Honestly nobody really cares if you don't like it. Virtually all of us love ours and those extreme few who don't aren't going to change how we feel by telling us what losers we are for loving our cars, or how "disappointing" the car is to you. We obviously don't/aren't going to agree with you so move on and stop wasting our bandwidth.

If whatever fanboy complains that the new Camaro "can't handle" because of whatever reason he uses, yank his butt out of the car and put Michael Schumacher in it. I guarantee that same car that "couldn't handle" will suddenly handle a whole lot better than complaining fanboy thought it could.

Most people, even "sporty" drivers will never get to 8/10 or above. They let the car do the work and just hang on for the most part and probably don't go above 6/10 of what it can do. It gets dangerous to go above 6/10 and REQUIRES training and skill. And training is more than just physical skill it's also mental skill; using your brains instead of driving with your ego or adrenaline.

The Camaro is an above average car that can go way above average in the hands of the right driver. It's a base platform, not the final, ultimate machine. To take it above it's production level you need to mod it. Clearly they intended that to happen because it takes mods really well and produces good results without feeling like it's being pushed past what it was designed for.

I am seriously impressed with what they've delivered in this car and I really enjoy being in it and driving it; even if it's just cruising around. In fact I have a hard time staying out of it; all I can think of is being in it and driving. Every time I walk into the garage I stand there and stare at it a few minutes. I haven't had a car affect me like that in a LONG time.

What DOC said!!!....

For my daily driving pleasure, this Camaro is a "HOME RUN, BASES LOADED, GRAND SLAM!!!....period!!!

Did I also mention that I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this car???!!!...

Wouldn't trade it for all the $$$ in the world...to me, this Camaro is much more than a car......IT IS AN EXPERIENCE OF HAPPINESS THAT CANNOT BE MEASURED!!!!!!!!!...

Thank you GM!!!... and, thank you Oshawa!!!...

There's always going to be someone that complains- sometimes they are just trolling for trouble. Everyone is different, and if the majority like it, then it's a hit.

It's a great car- it's got big hips, not everyone likes a woman..err...car with big hips, but some do. I like it because it's a big car, who wants to drive around in a roller skate with a top on it?
