I lived for about two years in aix-en-Provence when I was student, love this city For your autobahn question, sadly we have a lot of speed limit and a driver license with 12 credit, for example: if they caught you using your phone while you're driving, it's 2 credits, and a speed infraction with alcohol it's 6 crédit and some time behind bars if this isn't your first time |

I just remember the time I had to spend 2 weeks in Germany and a co-worker and I had a rented Mercedes. We decided to take a trip to southern Germany one Sunday (trucks were not permitted on the Autobahn on Sundays and traffic was extremely light that morning) and topped out at 240 KPH (149 MPH) for a good stretch. We kept a steady 200 KPH and were passed several times!!! What an experience that was!! Would love to take my Camaro for a ride like that over there because I'm surely not going to try that here!!

Nice ride, yes, we have strict laws here in Ontario,Canada as well. We even have a street racing law that if you are caught 50 kph over the speed limit you are charged with street racing and your vehicle is impounded on the spot. Thank goodness for the heads up display as it has saved me when I first got the car, I did not realize how fast I was going until I turned on the HUD. Welcome aboard |

For us in France, at 50km/h over the speed limit, it isn't an infraction anymore but a crime and you risk, at least, a hold back of your license right away on the field and a passage in front of a judge few months later for 1 to 5 years of no license and maybe a delete for life ... Nice huh ?
And tomorow a law will be apply, no radar signalisation in GPS like tomtom. If not, it's a 1500€ fine, about 1800$, and 6 credits loss on your license |
